  1. Andy DC says:

I have seen the sign in downtown Kansas City showing where the high water mark for the 1951 flood.

  2. rpercifield says:

I was born and raised in KCK, and both of my partents were witesses to the flood of 51. Areas around both the Kansas and Missouri rivers have benchmarks for the flood height. One that sticks in my memory is the one at the intersection of Hwy 24 and Hwy 59 north of Lawrence Kansas. There were two Tee Pees made of concrete for a gas station. You can still find one of them on Google Earth. That high water line mark was 10 feet above the ground. By going to street view you can still see it. But, hey, it was a predictor of CO2 right? Oops, my bad.
