Oddly enough, the people calling for monetary sacrifices are the same ones who plan to receive the money.
It looks to me as if the Lord had already established a fast. Were they seeking governmental approval? 😉

We already have a humiliating modern event in place mimicking the suggested 1839 day of penance. It’s called Earth Day.
In addition, among other offerings, we daily sacrifice our freedom, our healthcare and our tax tithing to the messiah. I prefer the 1839 version….
