You must understand that the event you are referring to was a ‘singular case’, it is ‘anecdotal evidence’, is based on ‘non-calibrated surface records’ with ‘poor quality control’. You are talking about ‘weather’.
A similar event today would of course be an example of ‘climate change’, ‘anthropogenic climate change’, ‘global warming’, ‘effects of carbon’ and ‘extreme weather’. Not to be confused with ‘weather’.

Christmas 1964 and 1965 of my youth in Washington, DC were both over 70 degrees. In January 1950, it reached 80 in January. Mild spells in winter are nothing new.

They keep trying to convince us that we are going through something new and unprecedented — but anyone who can read a little or who has lived long enough and has a decent memory, can tell you “we have seen this stuff before!”
I have yet to meet a CAGW supporter who will even give a rational response concerning why the greatest portion of US state all-time high temperatures were set back in the 1930s. I mean, after all, CO2 is like steroids for high temperatures, right? CO2 is “loading the dice for record high temperatures!”

Rising average global temperatures do not guarantee that a small patch of land like the contiguous US will break old records. This should be obvius to everyone but I guess it is not.

cfgjd, I would say “do the math” but you will not. If it were one or two or three state records it would be simple to write it off as just a dice throw. If it were a case of one or two or three years running, it would be simple to write it off as mere chance. This is a case of fifty states with records spanning more than a hundred years. Of those fifty states about half set their records during the 1930s.
My advice to you? Don’t ever take up gambling. You do not understand basic math.

Apparently rising average global temperatures do not even guarantee that global average temperatures will rise. This sort of mentation (notice that I do not use the gerund “thinking”) passes for knowledge among the CAGW faithful.
Re: the posted map for temps on Christmas 1932, I’d be interested in seeing overall US temperature trends for that winter. It looks like a classic El Nino pattern, just like this year so far.
Edit: 1932-33 is indeed listed as an El Nino year, which have occurred on average three years out of every decade since at least 1900.
