How’d that work out for ya?
It took American help and an Anglo-American, the son of Jennie Jerome of Brooklyn New York, to pull Europe back from the catastrophic abyss into which they were sleepwalking. That son was Winston Churchill.

BS Mate! The British were going down the tunnel of European Fascism along with Hitler’s Germany. Utter bollix and pure shit, the Americans and Russians slapped that out of Churchill after he failed time and time again with his north African Italy campaign. The UK a still an aggressive Authoritarian Country.they always have been.
Off course, all along, to insure peace A. Hitler was confiscating guns.
Be Careful, history does repeat itself.
IMO our current worst enemy is even more devious and illusive.
One country, of which is part of my heritage, France. is already getting close to the ‘tipping point’.
Never Forget what history has taught us about human nature.
How did that work for you, Neville?
Curious, Mr. Goddard, what inspired this posting today?
When I was showing a friend of mine argument after argument against oh!bummer!, he finally got fed up and said ‘give him a chance.’
Ever since then, I’ve made it a Point to bring up Neville Chamberlain.
YAY; after we were saved my grandad (who pass away recently) named my father after his brother who was killed when his ship was sunk by a Nazi u-boat in the north Atlantic.
It’s (not) funny how things work out.
Churchill quote comes to mind regarding CAGW and sceptics.
—————-
“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”
Churchill
There are a few Churchill quotes that tie into AGW/sceptics.
A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn’t happen.

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right.
&
It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link of the chain of destiny can be handled at a time.
&
It is always wise to look ahead, but difficult to look further than you can see.
&
There is no such thing as public opinion. There is only published opinion.
and last, but not least….
Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall
fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our
island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the
fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe,
this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the
British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth
to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
It is said that as the House of Commons thundered in an uproar at his stirring rhetoric, Churchill muttered in a whispered aside
to a colleague, “And we’ll fight them with the butt ends of broken beer bottles because that’s bloody well all we’ve got!“
