I heard one of the head honchos for the BOM explaining why they threw out most of the old extreme high temperature records from the past due to them being recorded in the Sun.
If they had evidence of that why were they let stand for the better part of a century ?

According to a BBC show – QI – there were only 4 “White Christmases” in London in the whole of the 20th Century – 4 in 100.

I am trying to wrap my head around any method (assuming adjustments are necessary) that maintains the infection point at 1961.
Since years-after-1961 keeps increasing and years-before-1961 is static, How do they maintain the fixed inflection point of 1961? Unless it is not a formula at all, but rather it is hard-coded as 1961.
So then, how did 1961 become sacred?

I s’pose that anytime adjustments are made, a blink-comparator will show a static point in the swing.
As I said somewhere earlier, if they keep this (temp adjustments) up, it’ll soon be a vertical line beginning at absolute zero.. That’ll be interesting to explain to the world.
Likewise with sea level. Their adjustments will soon show the Mariana Trench in the Western Pacific was a puddle in 1850.
