“It seems like everything on the coal industry is under siege, everything is under attack,” he said.
Many miners, particularly in Appalachia, have labeled the administration’s policies the War on Coal. “I just believe the Obama administration has taken a huge impact on the coal industry and Appalachia. Anymore, you just never know from day to day if you are going to have a job or not,” said miner Phillip Conley.
When he was a candidate, President Obama made it clear he was not a friend to coal. In 2008, he told the editorial board at the San Francisco Chronicle: “If somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all the greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”

By the way, if the War on Coal was a real concern regarding the generation of CO2 and the possibility of causing global warming, the government would be banning the USE AND THE EXPORT of coal. The fact that they allow coal to be exported exposes the fact that the War on Coal is part of a political agenda.
If you are going to do weather anecdotes about the super bowl being cold (let’s hope, it will make the game more interesting), how about doing an anecdote about the Australian Tennis Open playing in record hot temperatures this past week. It’s interesting to see the winning strategy of hot weather tennis is to move as little as possible. Serena was very serene in here minimalist moving win. High temperatures this week reached 111 f but will cool to the 70s today. I guess the Antarctic sea ice is casting a last gasp breeze for the season.

I suspect that 111 degrees is not exactly unusual in that region of Australia and is well within the norms of the last 150 years. It is expected to reach 77 degrees in Yuma, AZ, today and to continue for the next week in the same range. That is also well within the norms for this time of year here. Our weather is in the control of the same blocking high that is causing a drought and warm weather in Southern California. It happens often when the PDO is in a cooling phase, apparently.
We skeptics tend to like it when Mother Nature decides to dump on the centers of the Globull Warming Alarmists. The resulting video images help make our case to the American public despite just being weather events that come around in natural cycles from time to time. It makes Alarmists look even more stupid when they claim the freakin’ cold weather is because of CO2 induced warming. LOL
2013 was the warmest year on record for Australia. And that was without a strong El Nino. The PDO is an oscillation with no trend. It moves the heat through different part of the climate system but can not create nor retain heat. It can not be the cause of a long term warming trend.
