NOAA Massively Ramps Up Their Temperature Fraud Ahead Of Paris

As of last year, NOAA didn’t show much, if any August warming for almost 20 years.

201408

That didn’t suit Barack Obama’s agenda, so they simply changed the data to make the hiatus disappear.

This is on top of the massive data tampering they did prior to 2014.

GISS-1981-2002-2014-global

Their graph looks nothing like satellite measurements of global temperature.

Their graph looks nothing like the 1975 NCAR graph, because they know that they can lie and cheat with impunity while Obama is in office.

NOAA has completely erased the 30 year cooling trend, and now simply fabricate imaginary data for the southern hemisphere.

I really want to believe what is posted here but it just seems way too incredible to be true. Where does the ‘actual’ data come from that refutes the Hussein minion’s seeming lies? If it is that available you would think some Woodward and Berstein cub reporter would out them to make a name for himself, his Progressive roots notwithstanding.

    • rah says:

First. Which is the better story that the press likes? Disaster. Threats. ect. Besides that is kinda like asking why hasn’t Hillary done the perp walk yet? Of why does the press ignore Benghazi and accepted that cockamamie story about a video causing the attack? Why did they not challenge this current president time and again on so many issues but instead supported him? The attack at Ft. Hood wasn’t a terrorist attack? We really don’t want to waist the band width for me to list all of that kind of stuff I can think of now do we?

Second. The majority of the press is liberal. They want this stuff to be true. They believe that industrialization and the energy it is based upon are a problem, if not down right evil.

And finally we have this story about the “journalists” being bribed. . http://www.investigatemagazine.co.nz/Investigate/

        • Cynthia says:

Truly, ask yourselves what’s the purpose of “sounding alarm bells ” on global warming if not to raise money? Think about it! Seriously, what exactly is the end goal of this continuous alarmisim but to fine, raise taxes, impose cost exorbitant requirements that show no calculable benefits to our “climate ” except to grab monies?

        • Bodhisattva says:

“Global Warming” is real, saying it’s a scam plays into the hands of those who call climate realists ‘deniers’. It’s important you add the word “anthropogenic”:

“ANTHROPOGENIC GLOBAL WARMING IS JUST ANOTHER TAX SCAM.”

It’s not just about taxes – it’s about setting a precedent for the U.N. or some successor global authority to usurp the power of national governments similar to the E.U. somewhat successfully, but also occasionally unsuccessfully, trying to usurp the national authority of the E.U. member nations.

But taxes are a part of that, so I’m not disagreeing with you, per se.

And of course as with the whole Iraq oil thing the U.N. was skimming massive bribes off the top during the time all Iraqi oil exports had to go through them. And people who ‘played ball’ with Saddam and reported he had no WMD got huge payments through the scheme, too.

        • omanuel says:

          You are right, Bodhisattva

        • Bill says:

ACTUALLY — We started losing our republic around the turn of the 19th century. It accelerated slowly but exponentially. We are now in the later phase where changes are so extraordinary that we can actually see those leaps into TERMINAL Socialism.
We have been in total Socialism for most of the 1990s. Now we are in SUPER Socialism which is SO out of control that even the most extreme Socialist have given up trying to get control of the run-away-train. We are rapidly (days away ?) from a Terminal Socialism Crash.
          What is next?
Couldn’t even venture a guess. All I know is that after the crash we will be so devastated that we will be Zombie Like and unable to respond to any form of reality for a very long time.

      • i wrote a letter to the entire gang of imbecile ‘scientists’ who seek to PROSECUTE deniers with a link to this page.

A list of great minds…really? This isn’t the same as the tobacco industry where a few scientists were paid by the industry itself. This is about reasonable independent people who are not sold out to left wing ideology who independently look at the evidence and reach their own conclusion. How ironic that today’s left wing ‘scientists” are the very ones that would seek to persecute anyone who disagreed with them or dare challenge them, similar to the Roman catholic church in the dark ages. “Settled science” right? I challenge you in the name of science to seriously think about how loaded the very term itself “Settled science” is. Who invented such a term? That term itself contradicts science, and its not testable by science. “Settled science” is a 20th century invocation that has no basis in historical science. The term itself is an invention of agenda driven ideologues. Whenever you use that term, you demonstrate your own ineptitude and your own shortcomings and failures as ‘scientists’ who seek to pursue the truth, rather than a political agenda.

Galileo was a denier in his day too. I wear the badge proudly.
Too bad for you, satellite data is objective.

I’m glad that not everyone in history thought “settled science” (i.e. galileo) meant never question, never challenge, never be skeptical.

You guys sure are brilliant…lets persecute people who are ‘deniers’…all of you combined sure have an amazing mass of active brain cells…its genius! I wonder if your combined IQ is greater than 100….hey I have an idea, following your train of thought…..lets round up all those deniers and burn them at the stake in the name of “freethought”. Sound good? We have a pretty good historical template for what to do with “deniers”….lots of other societies in human history had very effective ways of eradicating them from civilized society- Galileo will testify to that!

May I take just a guess here….every single one of you is a democrat voter, yes? You can admit it. cmon…its ok, you can be honest with me guys. You know what they say…when everyone thinks alike, no one is really thinking.

I challenge you to look at this link, but you probably lack the intellectual fortitude to do so. Just like the millions of barack voters who cannot name the three branches of government, you represent a fine part of the democrat voting base.

    • Jason Calley says:

Hey willys36! “I really want to believe what is posted here but it just seems way too incredible to be true.”

I sympathize with your difficulty in belief, but you at least have the consolation of knowing that how you feel is pretty common. My brother says the same thing. “You would think some cub reporter would out them to make a name for himself!” My response is “If you know someone who has worked in the corporate media business (broadcast or print) ask them whether they were free to report whatever they thought correct or whether their managers and editors would over rule them.” There is a reason why the linked cartoon only ran once: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3JLKw0q4kY

As for where the “actual” temperature data comes from, most of it is online and downloadable. (If you want to study the process you might want to visit https://chiefio.wordpress.com/ and look around there.) The problem is that the publicized official analysis is based on “adjusted” data. What does adjusted mean? It means that it is not the measured data but has (theoretically) been corrected for known errors in the measurement process. How are those corrections done? No one will say… Litterally, they will not divulge the process by which the data is modified. They will give out vague and incomplete explanations, but nothing reproducible. It is possible that the adjustments are even correct. Possible, but very unlikely. Unlikely because the adjustments (and the adjustments to the adjustments, and the adjustments to the adjustments to the adjustments, etc.) do not fit the pattern expected for honest corrections. Instead they fit the pattern one would expect from people with political rather than scientific agendas.

It is difficult to admit to yourself that people whom you have trusted for scientific research and reporting are liars. The facts are the facts though, and I think that if you investigate the subject you will see that CAGW is a fraud. The good news, of course, is that billions will not die from a CO2 induced burning planet.

They use temperature station data that needs “adjustment” yet those adjustments always seem to be away from the satellite data and always in the direction of “warming”. It’s adjusting the observation to match the prediction made from the hypothesis. Getting the scientific method backwards.

The left is losing badly on this MMGW. The most recent evidence is the call for “deniers” to be prosecuted (for what?) under RICO (talk about projection – it is the left that massages the data)
As always, with the left, when they cannot present a plausible fact based non-unicorn defense or their crazy talk, they call names, assassinate character or try to get people locked up.

Just think about the scientists who study this. They get paid to study “climate change” for a year. No problems here” Or will they say “OMG OMG OMG We are all going to die” I need more money to study this problem and find out when we will all die” What will get more research money?

      • matt f says:

Oh, and if global warming was such a huge problem, why was the name changed from something that can be proven false, to something that no matter what your data says is true. “Climate change”. What a generic term. How absurd is that. You don’t believe in “climate change” Uhh….I don’t think anyone denies climates change.

Willys36: You wrote, “If it is that available, you would think some Woodward and Bernstein cub reporter would out them to make a name for himself.”

You mean like all those corporate media reporters “outing the truth” about 9/11 or hoax attacks like Sandy Hook and the Boston Marathon?

The corporate media is nothing more than the public relations division of the international corporate elite, just as the government is the enforcement division.

Regarding Woodward and Bernstein: Richard Nixon had lost his usefulness to the international corporate elite because he was drinking heavily and becoming increasingly unstable. The corporate elite decided to get rid of Nixon and replace him with the always-reliable Gerald Ford, and used the government and the corporate media to do it.

Bob Woodward was former Naval Intelligence. While in Naval Intelligence, he worked for future CIA Director William Casey. Woodward was also an assistant to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer.

Washington Post owner Katherine Graham and Executive Editor Ben Bradlee where well-connected insiders who helped cover up the murder of John F. Kennedy. Graham and Bradleee would not do anything that the people in charge did not want them to do.

In 2005, Bob Woodward “revealed” that his “Deep Throat” source of information was former FBI Associate Director Mark Felt. Felt was an unimaginative order-follower — the furthest thing from a whistleblower — and if he provided any information, it was because he was told to by persons higher up the food chain.

The Watergate burglary was purposely botched. Former CIA agent James McCord needlessly taped and re-taped the door latch after the burglars were already in the office; the re-taped latch is what prompted Security Guard Frank Wills to call the police (the police allegedly also received an anonymous call reporting the burglary).

The result: Nixon was out, Gerald Ford was in, the public had a few new false heroes to distract them, and the Watergate Hearings reassured the public that by golly, the system works after all.

Regarding Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the real story of Watergate is far different from that of popular imagination. President Richard Nixon had lost his usefulness to the international corporate elite because he was drinking heavily and becoming increasingly erratic. The corporate elite decided to get rid of Nixon and used the corporate media to do it. And he’s right here in Boise, Idaho – of all places!

    From Dr. John Luthy’s blog:

    * * Despite the twisted and inaccurate fulminations of climate deniers, we are experiencing a serious decline of water resources in the western U.S. that will have enormous economic repercussions. It is not so much that some refuse to recognize drought when they see it, or that they can’t seem to grasp the origin of well-proven causative factors that frustrates and confounds. The greater concern is that the volume and passion of their denial will inhibit real progress toward solutions. Those of us who deal with strategic planning understand that declining water resources is a legacy issue. Whatever decisions we make or don’t make now will haunt many future generations. * *

From the Christian Science Monitor of all places!
Setting rivers free: As dams are torn down, nature is quickly recovering

…The demolition of the two downstream dams at Winslow and Augusta, opening a 63-mile run to the sea from Benton Falls, is part of a profound shift of priorities in the United States. Dams, celebrated as a triumph of modern engineering and symbol of man’s call to redesign nature, are gradually being torn down….

Nearly 900 dams, erected to power the country’s machinery, store water, irrigate fields, or generate hydroelectric power, have come down in the past 25 years. Each year, about 50 or 60 more are removed….

Water is also an issue that the United Nations has on the back burner as a prodding stick.

      • I am assuming you are referring to the general “climate” crowd? (Even more so, the so-called “environMENTALists”?)

Seems that most of the drying out of subsurface water tables can be directly traced to the destruction of farming and irrigated agriculture in any specific area. I have noticed this trend over the years that our local farming was displaced by concrete and asphalt development of shopping malls, business complexes, and over-priced housing subdivisions. This being no different from the areas of California that had farmers convert over to “drip-irrigation”, and the resulting drying out of those areas. The irrigation is what fed the water tables, and what also defined the micro-climates of those areas. – Any “climate scientist” worth a damn would easily recognize this!

The West has had mega droughts in the past and this is entirely normal and some of these mega droughts happened during cold cycles. This is how all the trees, cacti, animals, etc all evolved into present forms.

But back during the Ice Ages, mastodons and saber tooth tigers and giant trees grew where there is now desert (visit Painted Forest in the desert to see examples of this!).

That would be the Petrified Forest which is adjacent to the Painted Desert wouldn’t it?
Less than a dozen places in the US where one can find petrified wood and the Petrified Forest in Arizona is by far the best I’ve seen. Beautiful colors and patterns. Now down near Bastrop, TX one can find petrified wood but it is all red from the iron oxide and though interesting I wouldn’t call it beautiful.

Don’t forget that the South West is littered with the remains of past civilizations that simply vanished, most likely due to climate change, hundreds of years before the first Europeans walked on these shores. Putin: Obama “Idiot” For Adopting Socialism

MOSCOW (SR) – Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned the Obama administration against adopting further socialism, saying Russian history clearly proves it is a recipe for failure.

“Any fourth grade history student knows socialism has failed in every country, at every time in history,” said Putin. “President Obama and his fellow Democrats are either idiots or deliberately trying to destroy their own economy.”

Economists say Putin’s comments serve to illustrate how worldwide markets have made even economic adversaries dependent on each other’s financial stability.

An Obama spokesman dismissed Putin’s claim, saying, “We’re going to do socialism better.”

      ………………………….

Even though this is satire it really hits home. You’ve heard the saying “…many a truth is spoken in jest…”. Well this satire/jest/humor is 100% on target. Why don’t Americans get it while foreigners do??

Look at Egyptian people’s protesting against Barack Hussein Obama with signs, graffiti and in audio and video interviews. The average Egyptian person on the street knows about Obama! Why don’t Americans???……

Live with and and change the present. Build barriers for increased water height height for examples. Mass or small migrations to better places . People did it all the time. Remember Westward HO??

The “young skulls full of mush” will gobble this up as truth. The liberals made sure that their propaganda was integrated into academics because there they could nurture and indoctrinate kids.

You are spot on! Using “the environment” to extort taxes from WORKERS and “redistribute wealth” to Socialist government’s “entitlement” classes that support them politically has been going on for decades. Yes, the young have been conditioned to believe this garbage, and many do…but not all. Climate change is a pawn on the chess board. The messages are clear; Human beings need vaccinations, and lots of them… or death is certain. The crazed gunmen will never go away until we all give up our guns. Climate change will kill all life on earth in fifty years unless we give up our cars, air conditioning, meat-eating etc. The main source of all the propaganda? U.N. Agenda 21.

Yep it really is no different than Obamacare. Just aimed at taking over a different sector of the economy. Here is the most succinct and simple description of what the Obamacare did/does that I’ve found and it’s accurate:

Great summary by a Notre Dame University engineer.

Here are the 10,535 pages of Obama Care condensed to 4 simple sentences..

As humorous as it sounds…..every last word is absolutely TRUE!

      1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to un-insure the insured.

      2. Next, we require the newly un-insured to be re-insured.

      3. To re-insure the newly un-insured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured.

      4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became un-insured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original un- insured can be insured, so it will be ‘free-of-charge’ to them.

  8. Bill the Sceptic says:

First, the raw data set is so large, it’s hard to get it. It’s all the correction and adjustment factors that they apply that let them get the result they want.

Why? Quite simply, it’s all about money. Yours and mine. I sold some of the most sensitive trace gas and trace isotopic analysis analyzers for “greenhouse gases” to worldwide universities. I learned quickly that asking a question like “isn’t water vapor the major IR absorbing component in the atmosphere”, or “could the raise of ocean temperatures from natural causes be releasing the dissolved CO2 into the atmosphere?” were heretical- like going to a Baptist convention and asking about communion being the true body of Christ- it’s a religious and feeling argument.

At the macro economic level, it’s all about money. Al Gore went from a net worth in 1990 of 2 million to almost 1/2 to 3/4 billion dollars today. Carbon credits makes money for people. it’s all about money and power.

Detroit was the industrial powerhouse of America, the “arsenal of democracy,” and, in 1960, the city with the highest per capita income in the land….

I observe that the physical decay of Detroit – the vacant and derelict lots for block after block after block – is as nothing compared with the decay of the city’s human capital. Forty-seven percent of adults are functionally illiterate, which is about the same rate as in the Central African Republic, which at least has the excuse that it was ruled throughout the Seventies by a cannibal emperor. Why would any genuine innovator open a Business in a Detroit “innovation hub”? Whom would you employ? The illiterates include a recent president of the School Board, Otis Mathis, which doesn’t bode well for the potential workforce a decade hence.

Given their respective starting points, one has to conclude that Detroit’s Democratic Party makes a far more comprehensive wrecking crew than Emperor Bokassa ever did. No bombs, no invasions, no civil war, just “liberal” “progressive” politics day in, day out. Americans sigh and say, “Oh, well, Detroit’s an ‘outlier.'” It’s an outlier only in the sense that it happened here first. The same malign alliance between a corrupt political class, rapacious public sector unions and an ever more swollen army of welfare dependents has been adopted in the formally Golden State of California, and in large part by the Obama administration, whose priorities – “health” “care” “reform,” “immigration” “reform” – are determined by the same elite/union/dependency axis. As one droll Tweeter put it, “If Obama had a city, it would look like Detroit.”…

The actions taken in Obama’s name and the direction in which the country is being steered are not motivated by Obama or the Democrats, but by the economic imperatives of the international corporate elite. Obama was selected to be the President by the international corporate elite because the corporate elite decided a glib, mixed-race male “Democrat” would best serve its agenda at this time.

Don’t be fooled by the Democrat vs. Republican paradigm fed to us by the corporate media — both parties are just different sides of the same coin. The Democrat/Republican, Liberal/Conservative, Left/Right conflict, the bickering and the “partisanship”, is just a charade. Sure, one party may pretend to favor Gays or Blacks or Mexicans and the other may pretend to favor God, but that is just a ruse to distract us and make us believe we have control over things.

When Barack Obama became President in 2009, he continued without interruption the policies of his predecessor in office, fellow non-ideological front man George W. Bush. Democrats and Republicans all approve the same health care policies, the same economic policies, the same bank bailouts; they all support the fake wars and the fake enemies (ISIS and al Qaeda); they all cooperate with the false flag and hoax attacks; and they all support “immigration reform” — open borders with Mexico.

Democrats and Republicans all play for the same team and are all paid by the same people, They do what they are told.

People Who Opposed the Central Banking Scheme

          US Presidents Murdered By The
          Rothschild Banking Cartel

Abraham Lincoln worked valiantly to prevent the Rothschild’s attempts to involve themselves in financing the Civil War.

Interestingly, it was the Czar of Russia who provided the needed assistance against the British and French, who were among the driving forces behind the secession of the South and her subsequent financing. Russia intervened by providing naval forces for the Union blockade of the South in European waters, and by letting both countries know that if they attempted to join the Confederacy with military forces, they would also have to go to war with Russia.

The Rothschild interests did succeed, through their agent Treasury Secretary Salmon P. Chase, to force a bill (the National Banking Act) through Congress creating a federally chartered central bank that had the power to issue U.S. Bank Notes. Afterward, Lincoln warned the American people:
“The money power preys upon the nation in time of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me, and causes me to tremble for the safety of our country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the republic is destroyed. “

Note that the Civil War ended in 1865 and thanks to the Czar of Russia, France and England did not get the chance to step in and Annex the parts left bleeding and defenseless.

On March 13 (March 1, O.S.), 1881, Alexander II was assassinated…On the very day of his death he signed an ukaz creating a number of consultative commissions that might have been transformed eventually into a representative assembly. Alexander III cancelled the ukaz before it was published and in the manifesto announcing his accession stated that he had no intention of limiting the autocratic power he had inherited….

….he [Alexander III] became heir apparent on the death of his elder brother Nikolay in 1865, he began to study the principles of law and administration under the jurist and political philosopher K.P. Pobedonostsev, who influenced the character of his reign by instilling into his mind hatred for representative government….
          http://www.britannica.com/biography/Alexander-III-emperor-of-Russia

In the summer of 1864, Nikolay became engaged to Princess Dagmar of Denmark. In 1865 he died of Tuberculous meningitis at age 22.

Alexander III died at 49 from liver failure in November 1, 1894 leaving his heir completely untrained or fit for rule. Nicholas II inherited at age 26 .

The Bolsheviks shot all the Rominovs on July 17, 1918 AFTER Nicholas II abdicated the throne in 1917. Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather (George V) – refused him and his family asylum in Britain despite the fact his wife was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria as was George V.

There is also little data for mountainous and desert regions, not to mention the Antarctic. Much of the coverage is so sparse that NASA is forced to make the ridiculous claim that regions are adequately covered if there is a temperature-sensing station within nearly 750 miles. This is the distance between Ottawa, Canada, and Myrtle Beach, S.C. cities with very different climates. Yet, according to NASA, only one temperature sensing station is necessary for the two cities and the vast area between them to be adequately represented in their network.”

    • Gail Combs says:

And that does not even take into account the energy bound in water vapor as the heat of vaporization.

Because of this the highest and lowest temperatures are in the driest places on earth. Water vapor modifies the temperature.

I took a quick look at the humid Brazilian rain forest, Barcelos, Brazil, and the dry N. African Desert, Adrar, Algeria.

The effect of the addition of water vapor (~ 4%) is not to raise the temperature but to even the temperature out. The monthly high is 10C lower and the monthly low is ~ 10C higher when the water vapor is added to the atmosphere in this example. The average temperature is about 4C lower in Brazil despite the fact Algeria is further north above the tropic of Cancer. Some of the difference is from the effect of clouds/albedo but the dramatic effect on the temperature extremes is also from the humidity.

In other words temperature is a lousy method of determining the energy in the atmosphere.

I found perfect correlation with temperature, maxima/minima e.g.
        a) Gleissberg constant (87 -88 year cycle)
        b) position of planets
        c) decrease in solar polar magnetic field strength,
        d) natural ozone/peroxide manufacture TOA
        etc
indeed, we [real climate scientists] do look at very small shifts in temperature globally to be able to make assessments and assertions,
namely that currently the world is COOLING instead of warming
yet the sun is now brighter/hotter
        go figure

        • Gail Combs says:

Heny P, temperature is a lousy method because it is an extrinsic property not intrinsic property.

An intrinsic property is a property that an object or a thing has of itself, independently of other things, including its context. An extrinsic (or relational) property is a property that depends on a thing’s relationship with other things. For example, density is an intrinsic property of any physical object, whereas weight is an extrinsic property that varies depending on the strength of the gravitational field in which the respective object is placed….
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrinsic_and_extrinsic_properties_(philosophy)

This does not mean you can not use temperature to obtain useful knowledge. You can use tree rings, stalactites, plants, ice cores sea bed cores…. all can be used to give you an indication of past climate. Extrinsic just means it is a proxy for the property you actually want to study and you need to remember that. It also means temperature is neither accurate nor precise. At least not to the degree the ClimAstrologists would lead us to believe.

Temperature measuring devices were not capable of measuring to better than perhaps .5 deg F and with some margin of error due to inaccuracies of manufacture, lack of calibration across the readable range of the device and reading inaccuracies by those logging the temperature readings not to mention very poor siting in many cases.

          This paper estimate error bands:
          http://www.eike-klima-energie.eu/uploads/media/E___E_algorithm_error_07-Limburg.pdf

“By knowing this the minimum uncertainty for every annual global mean temperature should be expanded not only to the value described here i.e. with 95 % confidence interval to ± 1.084 °C, but should be at least 3 to 5 times wider. Thus, the average global temperature anomaly for the last 150 years is dissolved in a wide noisy uncertainty band, which is much wider than the whole assumed variation of the 20th century.”

Then there is the very poor statistics of using the ‘statistics of large numbers’ to increase accuracy and precision when the actual sample size is ONE. You are not making repeated measurements of the SAME chunk of air but a unique measurement of many many chunks of air.

  28. Bill says:

Lets talk about data manipulation. Your chart that shows a decline in global temperature conveniently starts in 1997 to include the el Nino event. More further into the past even a little bit and the decline disappears. Exclude the el Nino event and the decline disappears.

    • Gail Combs says:

Think curve not straight line. The climate runs in cycles and 1997 was a peak.

ALBEDO also shows a switch around 1997 as does the solar cycles. (Cycle 23, a decline from cycle 22 started in 1997.)

      https://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/earth_albedo_bbso.png?w=640

      Cycle 22 and cycle 23

Patrick McIntosh a retired solar physicist from the NOAA Space Environment Laboratory in Boulder Colorado, compared the solar regions observed between August 1972 and 1991. The following table is based on his data and includes his estimate for the XRI of Region 6659.”

“This comparison indicates that Region 6659 in June 1991 easily heads the list of solar regions to 1991, surpassing even the March 1989 region. Solar cycle 22 is well represented with 6 out of the 15 regions in the list, including the top two regions!

The maximum phase of the cycle appeared to end rather abruptly in early 1992 when monthly values of sunspot number dropped significantly. The decline of Cycle 22 to its minimum in May 1996 was also remarkable because of the lack of major flare activity. The cycle had a multiple personality – malevolent in its first half and quite benign in its decline. This behaviour contrasts with Cycle 21 which was more active in its decline than during its rise or even its maximum.

The cycle was also less than 10 years in duration – a fair bit shorter than the “traditional” eleven year cycle.

There is a old saying that there is “nothing new under the Sun” – but this does not apply to the Sun itself! Cycle 22 proved to be a remarkable cycle by any measure.”
      http://www.ips.gov.au/Educational/2/3/2

So in summary, from February 1944 we had the 3rd and 1st most active cycles we have records on – almost 21 years.

This is followed by a surprisingly weak cycle 20 from October 1964 to June 1976.

Cycle 21 from June 1976 to Sep. 1986 was a significantly active cycle.

“Cycles 18, 19 and 21 were all exceptional!” According to some it was a Grand Solar Maximum the likes of which has not been seen in the last 3,000 years.

Cycle 22 – September 1986 was a large cycle – “Whilst not of record amplitude, Cycle 22 still rated as 4th largest of the recorded cycles and continued a run of large solar cycles”.

Cycle 21 was “exceptional”, cycle 22 is #4 these coincided perfectly with the period of “unprecedented” warming in the latter half of the 20th century.

“June 1991 was the most outstanding solar flare activity of this cycle, and probably the largest since the peak of the record Cycle 19.”

“How can we compare the impressive June 1991 solar region with other regions observed over the previous twenty years beforehand? One method of comparison is to calculate the total output of X-ray flares by the region.”

And what is the result ?

“This comparison indicates that Region 6659 in June 1991 easily heads the list of solar regions to 1991, surpassing even the March 1989 region. Solar cycle 22 is well represented with 6 out of the 15 regions in the list, including the top two regions!”

Whilst “only” #4 cycle 22 turns out to be amazingly energetic !

It finishes in 1997 and – surprise surprise! – 1997/98 has the largest El-Nino ever observed and that huge spike in atmospheric radiation to space observed by satellites.

Cycle 23 was weaker and cycle 24 appears to have gone close to dormant.

    • AndyG55 says:

Exclude the El Nino event , which added 0.26ºC to atmospheric temperatures, and there is basically ZERO warming in the whole of the satellite record. !!!

      http://woodfortrees.org/plot/rss/from:1979/plot/rss/from:2001.2/trend/plot/rss/from:1979/to:1997/trend/plot/rss/from:2001.2/trend/offset:-.26

The only way you can get any warming is by including the El Nino… which is of course what any good little alarmista propagandist does… even though it had nothing to do with CO2.

There is NO CO2 WARMING SIGNATURE in the whole of the satellite temperature record.

1981 – Global Warming – “of an almost unprecedented magnitude” – New York Times

1988 – I would like to draw three main conclusions. Number one, the earth is warmer in 1988 than at any time in the history of instrumental measurements. Number two, the global warming is now large enough that we can ascribe with a high degree of confidence a cause and effect relationship to the greenhouse effect. And number three, our computer climate simulations indicate that thegreenhouse effect is already large enough to begin to effect the probability of extreme events such as summer heat waves. – Jim Hansen, June 1988 testimony before Congress, see His later quote and His superior’s objection for context

1989 -“On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but – which means that we must include all doubts, the caveats, the ifs, ands and buts. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people we’d like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climate change. To do that we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, means getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. This “double ethical bind” we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. I hope that means being both.” – Stephen Schneider, lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Discover magazine, October 1989

2001 – “Scientists no longer doubt that global warming is happening, and almost nobody questions the fact that humans are at least partly responsible.” – Time Magazine, Monday, Apr. 09, 2001

2003 – Emphasis on extreme scenarios may have been appropriate at one time, when the public and decision-makers were relatively unaware of the global warming issue, and energy sources such as “synfuels,” shale oil and tar sands were receiving strong consideration” – Jim Hansen, NASA Global Warming activist, Can we defuse The Global Warming Time Bomb?, 2003

2006 – “I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis.” — Al Gore, Grist magazine, May 2006

Thermometer Years by Latitude Warm Globe

No doubt you will not believe bloggers so how about the Russians?

On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.

The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory.

Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports.

Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.

The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.

The HadCRUT database includes specific stations providing incomplete data and highlighting the global-warming process, rather than stations facilitating uninterrupted observations.

On the whole, climatologists use the incomplete findings of meteorological stations far more often than those providing complete observations.

IEA analysts say climatologists use the data of stations located in large populated centers that are influenced by the urban-warming effect more frequently than the correct data of remote stations.

The scale of global warming was exaggerated due to temperature distortions for Russia accounting for 12.5% of the world’s land mass. The IEA said it was necessary to recalculate all global-temperature data in order to assess the scale of such exaggeration.

Global-temperature data will have to be modified if similar climate-date procedures have been used from other national data because the calculations used by COP15 analysts, including financial calculations, are based on HadCRUT research.

      The Bolivia Effect

Alright Already, what is this Bolivia Effect?

Notice that nice rosy red [in the temperature map] over the top of Bolivia? Bolivia is that country near, but not on, the coast just about half way up the Pacific Ocean side. It has a patch of high cold Andes Mountains where most of the population live.

One Small Problem with the anomally map. There has not been any thermometer data for Bolivia in GHCN since 1990.

None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Empty Set.

So just how can it be so Hot Hot Hot! in Bolivia if there is NO data from the last 20 years?

Easy. GIStemp “makes it up” from “nearby” thermometers up to 1200 km away. So what is within 1200 km of Bolivia? The beaches of Chili, Peru and the Amazon Jungle.

Not exactly the same as snow capped peaks and high cold desert, but hey, you gotta make do with what you have, you know? (The official excuse given is that the data acceptance window closes on one day of the month and Bolivia does not report until after that date. Oh, and they never ever would want to go back and add date into the past after a close date. Yet they are happy to fiddle with, adjust, modify, and wholesale change and delete old data as they change their adjustment methods…)

Now, I don’t know about you, but it seems to me the earth experiences natural, sometimes wild swings in its average temperature. Can humans potentially affect the speed of this natural cycle? It can’t be denied; it can be demonstrated that we as a species are a “variable.” Does that make us the cause? It does not. If we “are not” the cause, we cannot be proven to “be” the cause, and any conclusions to that effect are irresponsible.

The bottom line is that 98% of the World’s glaciers are melting at a torrid pace and rising sea levels reflect this. Mid to late Holocene sea-level reconstruction of Southeast Vietnam using beachrock and beach-ridge deposits

….backshore deposits along the tectonically stable south-eastern Vietnamese coast document Holocene sea level changes…..reconstructed for the last 8000 years….The rates of sea-level rise decreased sharply after the rapid early Holocene rise and stabilized at a rate of 4.5 mm/year between 8.0 and 6.9 ka. Southeast Vietnam beachrocks reveal that the mid-Holocene sea-level highstand slightly above + 1.4 m was reached between 6.7 and 5.0 ka, with a peak value close to + 1.5 m around 6.0 ka….

Translation the sea level was up to 1.5 meters higher than today in a tectonically stable area ~5000 years ago to 2000 years ago.

      STUDY #2
Sea-level highstand recorded in Holocene shoreline deposits on Oahu, Hawaii

Unconsolidated carbonate sands and cobbles on Kapapa Island, windward Oahu, are 1.4-2.8 (+ or – 0.25) m above present mean sea level (msl)…we interpret the deposit to be a fossil beach or shoreline representing a highstand of relative sea level during middle to late Holocene time. Calibrated radiocarbon dates of coral and mollusc samples, and a consideration of the effect of wave energy setup, indicate that paleo-msl was at least 1.6 (+ or – 0.45) m above present msl prior to 3889-3665 cal. yr B.P, possibly as early as 5532-5294 cal. yr B.P., and lasted until at least 2239-1940 cal. yr B.P

      THE HOLOCENE DEPOSITIONAL SYSTEM
Partially abutted against the Pleistocene barrier island/lagoonal system III, there is the Holocene depositional system. This unit is attributable to the Santos Transgression of Suguio & Martin (1978), along the State of São Paulo coastline, or to the Last Transgression of Bittencourt et al. (1979) along the State of Bahia coastline, being similar to the barrier island/lagoonal system IV of Villwock et al. (1986), along the State of Rio Grande do Sul coastline.

This system is related to the post-glacial transgressive episode whose culmination stage was attained about 5.1 ky BP, when a barrier island alignment was formed parallel to the shoreline, while drainage net was drowned. The subsequent regressive episode promoted the barrier island progradation following the lagoonal basin silting.

The paleoshorelines limited by ancient cliffs carved within Pleistocene terraces, presently representing the inner limit of the Holocene terrace, shows that this sea-level reached about 4m above the present one. Several terraces situated in different altitudes, and truncation of past morphological features nowadays observed on Holocene deposits, as well as along present lagoonal margins suggest that small scale sea-level oscillations occurred during the last 5 ky….

Ice free Arctic Ocean, an Early Holocene analogue

      Abstract
Extensive systems of wave generated beach ridges along the North Greenland coasts show that these areas once saw seasonally open water. In addition to beach ridges, large amounts of striated boulders in and on the marine sediments from the same period also indicate that the ocean was open enough for ice bergs to drift along the shore and drop their loads. Presently the North Greenland coastline is permanently beleaguered by pack ice, and ice bergs are very rare and locked up in the sea ice. Predictions of the rapidly decreasing sea ice in the Arctic Ocean generally point to this area as the last to become ice free in summer. We therefore suggest that the occurrence of wave generated shores and abundant ice berg dropped boulders indicate that the Arctic Ocean was nearly free of sea ice in the summer at the time when they were formed. The beach ridges occur as isostatically raised “staircases”, and C14-dated curves for relative sea level change show that they were formed in the Early Holocene. A large set of samples of molluscs from beach ridges and marine sediments were collected in the summer of 2007, and are presently being dated to give a precise dating of the ice free interval. Preliminary results indicate that it fell within the interval from c. 8.5 to c. 6 ka – being progressively shorter from south to north. We therefore conclude that for a period in the Early Holocene, probably for a millenium or more, the Arctic Ocean was free of sea ice at least for shorter periods in the summer….

Early Holocene summer sea ice limits were substantially smaller than their 20th century average, and the flow of Atlantic water into the Arctic Ocean was substantially greater. As summer solar energy decreased in the second half of the Holocene, glaciers re-established or advanced, sea ice expanded

This signal is …independently tested through a mineral magnetic provenance analysis of catchment samples. Minimum glacier input is indicated between 6700–5700 cal yr BP, probably reflecting a situation when most glaciers in the catchment had melted away, whereas the highest glacier activity [growth] is observed around 600 and 200 cal yr BP. During the local Neoglacial interval (~ 4200 cal yr BP until present), five individual periods of significantly reduced glacier extent are identified at ~ 3400, 3000–2700, 2100–2000, 1700–1500, and ~ 900 cal yr BP….

Sea Level Changes Past Records and Future Expectations

For the last 40-50 years strong observational facts indicate virtually stable sea level conditions. The Earth’s rate of rotation records an [average] acceleration from 1972 to 2012, contradicting all claims of a rapid global sea level rise, and instead suggests stable, to slightly falling, sea levels.

Have they corrected for the 18.6-yearly Luna Nodal cycle? Linear trend lines on sinusoidal curves are very time dependent.
The Dutch who are the most concerned about actual sea level rise have found the cycle.

      Local Relative Sea Level
To determine the relevance of the nodal cycle at the Dutch coast, a spectral analysis was carried out on the yearly means of six main tidal gauges for the period 1890–2008. The data were corrected for atmospheric pressure variation using an inverse barometer correction. The spectral density shows a clear peak at the 18.6 -year period (Figure 1). The multiple linear regression yields a sea-level rise (b1) of 0.19 +/- 0.015 cm y-1 (95%), an amplitude (A) of 1.2 +/- 0.92 cm, and a phase (w) of -1.16 (with 1970 as 0), resulting in a peak in February 2005 (Figure 2). No significant acceleration (inclusion of b2) was found.
      CONCLUSIONS
Coastal management requires estimates of the rate of sealevel rise. The trends found locally for the Dutch coast are the same as have been found in the past 50 years (Deltacommissie, 1960; Dillingh et al., 1993). Even though including the nodal cycle made it more likely that the high-level scenarios would become apparent in the observations, no acceleration in the rate of sea-level rise was found. The higher, recent rise (van den Hurk et al., 2007) coincides with the up phase of the nodal cycle. For the period 2005 through 2011, the Dutch mean sea-level is expected to drop because the lunar cycle is in the down phase. This shows the importance of including the 18.6-year cycle in regional sea-level estimates. Not doing so on a regional or local scale for decadal length projections leads to inaccuracies.

  51. Neil F. says:

This is all well and good but there really is one thing that tells me that AGW advocates are using hyperbole, twisting truth, and telling outright lies. And that is the term “Ocean Acidification” First of all, the pH scale says that any aqueous solution with a pH greater than 7 is basic, less than 7 is acidic, and 7 is neutral. So even if absorption of atmospheric CO2 is occurring, which it actually is, and lowers the pH level of the oceans, which it does slightly, you can’t say that it is “acidifying” the oceans! The pH level would have to reach neutral of 7 pH, then drop below that to be considered acidic! It is entirely inaccurate, and misleading, to say that any reduction of the pH level in the oceans is “acidifying” it. The term acidic will not apply until it has reduced its alkalinity, and then become neutral, and then drop below that before you can correctly bring the term acidic into play.
Second, the ocean’s pH level varies widely from place to place, hour to hour, to ever say with any certainty what the actual pH of the oceans are at any given time, or what they should be.
And finally, the oceans are a natural carbon sink and play a vital role in the carbon cycle of the planet. So in the past when atmospheric CO2 levels were much higher than today, the ocean’s were absorbing more CO2 than they are now with no apparent ill effects.
Saying the oceans are “acidifying” is scary and the term is used to evoke an emotional reaction of fear, which is a very basic form of manipulation. So hyperbole, distortion, lies = control. It’s just that simple!

      1. estuaries: The average composition of river water is given in Table 4-2 (from
Langmuir, 1997). The concentrations are given in mg l-1 and can be compared with
seawater concentrations. The main difference is that HCO3- is the main anion in river
water and has a much higher concentration than Cl- (which is the lowest of the major
anions in river water). Calcium is the main cation in river water, followed by Na and Mg,
      then K…..

Ca has small (+ 0.5%) but systematic variations within the ocean. This has been
known since the earliest analyses of seawater. Dittmar (1884) used precise analyses
of 77 Challenger samples to show that the calcium/chloride ratio was higher in deep
      water then in surface waters.
When the Ca increase was first discovered by Dittmar it was hypothesized to be due
to dissolution of CaCO3 particles. Brewer et al. (1975) showed that the change in
alkalinity with depth in the ocean (where Alkalinity ? HCO3- + 2 CO32-) was less than
that expected for the change in Ca. Actually according to the CaCO3 solubility
      reaction (e.g. CaCO3(s) = Ca2+ + CO32-), the changes should follow the expression
?Alkalinity = 2 ?Ca. Calcium increases by 100-130 ?M as deep water flows from
the Atlantic to the Pacific (Fig. 4-1) but alkalinity only increases by 120-130 ?M. As
the calcium data are probably sound, Brewer et al.(1975) suggested that this was
because the alkalinity was low due to titration by HNO3 produced by respiration of
organic matter in the deep sea. The correct comparison should be of Ca with potential
alkalinity which is the total alkalinity corrected for the NO3 produced….

The long residence time of Sr in the ocean could suggest that its concentratiobn does not
vary over Quaternary time scales, but in fact the best estimates of the modern Sr budget
suggest that it is far from steady state (Schlanger, 1988). And in fact large changes (up to
12%) in Sr/Ca in planktonic foraminifera have been observed over the past 150 ka
(glacial/interglacial time scales) suggesting that Sr/Ca was higher during glacial maxima
(Stoll et al., 1999). This variability reflects changes in sea level, river fluxes and
      carbonate accumulation rates.

Salt buffered solutions are well understood in metalliferrous mining and hydrometallurgy.

Here in the US that scare is still alive and manifested in MY profession. Years ago the state of Tennessee set the speed limit to 55 mph for big trucks within 50 miles of certain large cities such as Knoxville. The reasoning was that it would reduce emissions that they claimed were having a negative effect in the Smoky mountains to the east.

Never mind that I can fly along I-75 running just east of those mountains at 70 mph until I get to that 50 mile line. And never mind the fact that since 2008 Big trucks have been using ultra low sulphur diesel fuel and filtration and scrubber systems which have greatly lowered their sulphur compound emissions and the vast majority of big trucks on the road today have those systems on them.

When those speed limit signs first went up some drivers caught speeding in those zones were not only given a ticket for speeding but also a much costlier one for pollution. But soon some level of sanity reigned and they just ticketed for speeding. But really these days it seems to me most Tennessee troopers don’t enforce that speed limit to stringently when your still well out of town.

Then, we started looking real close at the science and behold, cholesterol does not do a thing. Now, how did the politicians benefit. At first the meat industry had to pay them to keep out regulations. Then the “statins” came around and big pharma doled out money left and right to make sure that the cholesterol bull continued and that statins were the wonder drugs. Now, it is all falling apart. Your diet has nothing to do with disease unless it makes you fat (even salt) and statins are more harmful than good. For the remaining 20% of that time we have experienced 4 ICE HOUSE phases which are defined by the presence of ICE anywhere on Earth, hence we are still in an ICE HOUSE phase. The transitions between these two phases are ALWAYS accompanied by mass extinction events & sea levels RISE & FALL 300 to 400 feet more or less than they are today as water is released or captured in the polar ice sheets & continental glaciers. Nothing will stop the natural & eventual return to our normal GREEN HOUSE Earth phase… when all of the ice will once again disappear, the sea levels will rise dramatically & it becomes much hotter everywhere.

Be aware that you are being manipulated by the Government, the press, and the multinational corporations and alert others to the same.

About half of the time this website discusses political manipulation and not climate.

Read “Dark Winter” by John L. Casey and all your questions will be answered… Superb analysis done in 2014 using all alarmists data and totally refuting it before giving the elegant, scientific and simple answer to it all…

    • What I have not seen, however, are any actual solutions to this outrage short of overthrowing the entire US government.

      Spock,

I also think of myself as a doer but I do not believe in throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I also don’t believe that the solution is “overthrowing the entire US government”.

First of all, the pushers and profiteers of the global warming scare are not just in the USA as our friends in Australia, Europe and South America, or any watcher of international organizations and politics can tell you. They exist everywhere as long as it gives them fame, money and power. They prey on naïve and ignorant people who like to think they are saving the world.

Second, you don’t seem to be convinced yet that the data manipulation is a problem you want to tackle but you are challenging others to come up with the solutions for you?

If you decide to get involved, why would you think only of expressing your indignation to people who think like you? Don’t you know people around you who spout ignorant nonsense about global warming that is easy to refute? Learn the facts and put them on the spot next time they go off. It’s fun.

Did you think of supporting the people who carry on this fight? If you think the information on these pages is worthy of dissemination there is a donation button in the upper right corner. The Real Science blog has been repeatedly linked by Drudge and that provides exposure many orders of magnitude bigger than anyone can accomplish as an individual.

Do you know that Michael Mann is suing Mark Steyn for libel? Steyn is not rolling over but it costs him money which is why Mann is doing it. Buy Steyn’s books, give him money or both, and you will provide both practical and moral support with a couple of clicks.

These are just a few examples. Maybe you can come up with other ideas better than that but I can guarantee one thing: You will not get everything you want. Some criminals are never caught, some who are caught will walk, and sometimes good people are long dead before they are exonerated.

We just have to keep trying.

Truth is that AGW theory implicates that it would affect minimum temperatures, pushing up the average mean temperature. Well there you have my results:

    https://i0.wp.com/oi62.tinypic.com/33kd6k2.jpg

Conclusion: there is no man made climate change. Looking at the speed of warming, it looks like somebody just threw you a ball? Cannot take a random sample of 54 weather stations and get a 100% correlation on a quadratic function.
    so
    There was some natural warming up until a time;
there is now natural cooling, up until a time.

If you can figure out until when it will be cooling, you are a genius…..

  63. Not only are they adjusting data, they are preventing access to previous data on the Wayback Machine. They obviously don’t want anyone comparing new and old data to see what the adjustments have been over time.

If in the Wayback Machine, you type:

    ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/noaaglobaltemp/operational/timeseries/aravg.mon.land_ocean.90S.90N.v4.0.0.201508.asc

    You will see this message:

“Page cannot be crawled or displayed due to robots.txt”

NOAA is using “robots.txt” to keep their files from being archived. When they do that, it “disappears” previously archived files as well. My own opinion is that those are not their files to hide. Those files belong to taxpayers.

I have archived a lot of older NOAA data. I’m sure that others have done that as well. There ought to be some way of sharing those data to create a Master file of NOAA temperature time series data.

What a ridiculous bunch of whining. Global Warming – Climate Change – is happening.
And wow!! am I making a TON of money caring about it!! That’s why I do it!!
I drive less, consume less, and work on action committees and attempt to at least to manage life so that my children and grandchildren have a chance to enjoy a temperate climate.
But it’s really just the scads and scads of CASH I make from it! That’s why I care about Climate Change and the havoc that it is already making around the globe; the refugees which cannot survive, the droughts, the floods, the stronger storm systems, the desperation of those for whom home-islands are getting swamped by rising water.
It’s all the MONEY that I make caring. I’m just ROLLING money money money !!!!!
Climate Change is a terrific way for us to make Money!!!

What a bunch of idiots. The house is on fire but you’re all like “No, it’s not . . . everybody just says that to make money”. Really?? Christ.
