It is time for a lawsuit – A. unadjusted numbners must be preserved B. any information presented must be shown with unadjusted information with a detailed explanation as to how and why the adjustment was made. If that happened I bet we would be seeing less tampering.
I noticed an interesting thing in the CRUtem3 dataset for southern Engand.
(I was comparing CRU to Met Office.)
52.6N 34970 Gorelston: CRU, no data after 1975. MO, data not available.
52.5N 38993 Edgbaston: CRU, no data after 1969. MO, data not available.
52.5N 35340 Elmdon: CRU, no data after 1999. MO, data not available.
52.2N 38996 Cambridge: CRU, no data after 1969. MO, data to 2009.
51.9N 37898 Ross-on-Wye: CRU, no data after 1975. MO, data to 2009.
51.7N 38900 Oxford: CRU, no data after 1980. MO, data to 2009.
51.7N 38989 Rothamstead: CRU, no data after 1969. MO, data not available.
51.4N 37150 Cardiff: CRU, no data after 1998. MO, data not available.
51.2N 37430 Larkhill: CRU, no data after 1960. MO, data not available.
51.2N 37760 Gatwick: CRU, no data after 1998. MO, data not available.
50.8N 38637 Osborne: CRU, no data after 1900. MO, data not available.
50.8N 38620 Bournmouth: ** CRU, data to 2011. ** MO, data to 2009.
50.4N 38270 Plymouth: CRU, no data after 2000. MO, data not available.
49.5N 38940 Guernsey: CRU, no data after 1900. MO, data not available.
14 MO (finest in the world?) stations, but only one with data for 2000 – 2011: that’s one way to get “warming”!
Could be like Southampton, where the Met Office were based right in the middle of the town and taking measurements there. The station was eventually moved to the airport. Since the move, the airport has become increasingly busy and various businesses have built there. It’s hard to know which of the two is more embarrassing for the MO in terms of the station being affected by UHI of various types.

yeabut, Zeke & Mosher say the continual adjustments are necessary to achieve the correct “real” temperatures of the station data.
The past is constantly changing.
