At least he got out alive.
Snow has claimed more lives in Australia this year (3) than Great White Sharks.

OT but Australian Bureau of Meteorology says there is a 70% chance of a weak El Nino by southern Spring. Meanwhile models say little to no chance. They just don’t want to let go of the climate alarmism vindication surrounding an El Nino event, even though it has little if anything to do with CO2.

Wishful thinking on the part of the AGW crowd is no match for Mother Nature… or reality.

  4. markstoval says:

It must be deep summer in the northern hemisphere again. Time for the lemmings to try to find the famed NW passage.

Other than the political ramifications, what would be the big deal if all the sea ice melted up north anyway? Other than we are used to it and expect it, why do we “need” all that damn floating ice anyway? (we have machines to make ice for our adult beverages)

    • Justa Joe says:

It’s a Great sacrement of the cAGW cult. If true it would be the warmists’ only tangible “proof” and I use that word VERY loosely that anything has ever happened that would imply Gore-Bull warming.

      • Morgan says:

What’s to stop me from saying that melting sea ice is proof of global cooling?

        1. cooling causes less rain so the sea gets saltier and all the ice melts
        2. cooling causes less polar wind so the ice melts
        3. cooling causes sea ice to slide up the land and turn into land ice
        4. cooling surface water sinks and allows the saltier water to rise to the surface and melt the ice

    • … why do we “need” all that damn floating ice anyway?

It’s hard to build a money-making franchise to provide “desperately needed measurements” of refrigerator ice.

  5. Eliza says:

This is really good news. A MAJORITY (53%) of Australians want the carbon tax repealed immediately. This is a HUGE shift in thinking BTW. Palmer has had to move real quick. It basically is a huge defeat for the AGW folks worldwide. No wonder Gore HAD to try to stop it. Palmer really played the guy 100%. Australia now has no carbon tax and no ETS and never will. Obama hasn’t got a chance with his Global warming agenda me thinks. A complete victory for skeptics and deniers LOL

Near Barrow! He hardly got out of port, did he?

Reblogged this on wwlee4411 and commented:
But it was supposed to have melted!

  8. _Jim says:

Ice? What ice? Shirley, you gest …

  9. Bob Knows says:

They should NOT be wasting OUR money rescuing idiots. Let their stupid be its own reward. Sorry sots need to experience to learn.

  10. Dave1billion says:

Navigating the Northwest Passage has been a dream of mariners for centuries.

I choose peg this guy as probably more of the adventurer type than some wackjob trying to prove an environmental point.

Just think of all the adventurers (I hesitate to call all of them them explorers) that died 100 years ago trying to reach the poles. Pride was pretty much the driving force there.

That said, failing that close to Barrow is still an epic fail.

I am just going outside and I may be some time.

  11. Morgan says:

They didn’t want to release his name because it was Chris Turney. Ha ha ha that’s the funniest thing I ever said here.

Turney wanted to be the first person ever to be stuck in ice at both poles. Ha ha now THAT’s the funniest one.

  12. There Is No Substitute for Victory. says:

The wimp, didn’t he know that it was only thin, rotten, slushy, first year ice that stood in his way? Why the natives navigate that type of ice in open seal skin boats! And here this big bad Yankee yacht skipper has to go crying to the US Coast Guard to pull either him or his dinghy out of the drink. Oh the shame of it all, pass me a brown paper sack please.

    • There Is No Substitute for Victory. says:

I seem to remember a certain adage about fools rushing in where wise men fear to tread.

  13. Sleepalot says:

The Arctic Sunrise is still in Murmansk (although the Russians have released it, Greenpeace says
    it’s not sea-worthy).

  14. soulsurfer says:

What a fool… Didn’t he check sea-ice maps, weather maps, request info from the local coast guard etc before setting sail!? Apparently not. He probably only checked the climate models which predicted ice-free Arctic by 2013 and as such believed there was no ice…

  15. BallBounces says:

Hahaha. This is clearly photoshopped. Everybody knows the Arctic is ice-free in summer.
