Joe Biden says that failure to comply with the Obama CO2 religion is like “denying gravity” and wants skeptics silenced – like Freeman Dyson, the infinitely smart man.
The Civil Heretic
FOR MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY the eminent physicist Freeman Dyson has quietly resided in Princeton, N.J., on the wooded former farmland that is home to his employer, the Institute for Advanced Study, this country’s most rarefied community of scholars. Lately, however, since coming “out of the closet as far as global warming is concerned,” as Dyson sometimes puts it, there has been noise all around him. Chat rooms, Web threads, editors’ letter boxes and Dyson’s own e-mail queue resonate with a thermal current of invective in which Dyson has discovered himself variously described as “a pompous twit,” “a blowhard,” “a cesspool of misinformation,”
There is the suspicion that, at age 85, a great scientist of the 20th century is no longer just far out, he is far gone — out of his beautiful mind. But in the considered opinion of the neurologist Oliver Sacks, Dyson’s friend and fellow English expatriate, this is far from the case. “His mind is still so open and flexible,” Sacks says. Which makes Dyson something far more formidable than just the latest peevish right-wing climate-change denier. Dyson is a scientist whose intelligence is revered by other scientists — William Press, former deputy director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and now a professor of computer science at the University of Texas, calls him “infinitely smart.”
Joe Biden on the other hand, believes that non-president Roosevelt spoke to the US on non-existent televisions after the 1929 stock market crash.

I know Dr. Dyson personally (via my father) and he is not only very smart but VERY amusing. Likes to joke and I am sorry he is being abused by idiots.
May Dr. Dyson live long and stay healthy in mind and body.
We are losing too many of our giants in science and they are being replaced by Lysenkoists.
What a completely upside down world.
I would feel myself honored just to be in a room with Dyson, and if I was in a room with Biden, I would want to leave or choke on laughter at his stupidity
Gail,– Will Happer and Dyson are writing a piece for “Nature” on the subject of which you saw Happer speak. Happer said he will send me a copy before it appears in Nature, but it is one of many things he is working on. I will send it to you along with the Happer slides if you wish.
Also, Lindzen has an article in the WSJ on Thursday about the political assault on climate skeptics. Good article! Talks of the NYT attack on Willie Soon. (I also have Soon’s excellent response if anyone wants it.) If republicans did what democrat legislators are doing it would be headline news.
He also mentions that the so called “water vapor feedback” just isn’t happening.
For those who have followed this aspect, Roy Spencer indicated that UAH Satellite measurements indicate that water vapor content is simply following surface temperatures, and there is no 4% increase as models predicted. Also, the mid-latitude hot spot with the cold spot above it have not occurred. Therefore there is no increase in quantity of a temperature gradient worldwide and therefore no increase in extreme weather.
The aforementioned and the belief in an increase in back/downward radiation from the wings of the IR absorption spectrum constitute IMO the entire weak science of the
AGW gang.
And Lord, can California create even more members of congress that reach the magnitude of stupidity that it has. (See Lindzen and other articles) OH NO, my home state of MN has been trying, but we just do not have has many representatives
Unfortunately, it appears we will keep on trying.
Just like my grandfather who worked with Dr. Hubble, who tracked sunspot activity and correctly correlated this with climate, the old guys know a great deal of everything and I am happy I got to listen to grandpa in the observatory when a child.
He worried a lot about Ice Ages. ‘The Interglacial is ending soon…’ he would warn me.
Obama had to find the one person that is dumber than he is to be his VP. This way Barry looks smart by comparison.
Impeachment insurance.
Obama is smarter in all 57 states, too

I find it very difficult to take serious people who are so easily duped by such an obvious hoax. At every turn the natural world mocks the false claims of “climate science” yet these clown not only refuse to admit it but they increase their rhetoric. Of course the truth is the politicians are not “duped”. Rather they know exactly who benefits from the lie and and that is the reason for it.
BTW, per my BGE utility (Maryland) this February was not only the coldest February of the past 8 years but it was the coldest month of ANY month in the past 8 years. And I can only say 8 years because my records only go back that far. Per the regulated utility February 2015 in Maryland was 6 degrees F colder than any other February in the past 8 years and 3 degrees colder than any other month. And just 5 months ago NOAA forecast that winter temperatures in the mid-Atlantic would be “normal”.
How about we get the NOAA “scientists” in front of Congress to explain what happened. I would love to see the comedy of the committed government scientists explaining that while short-term climate projections are hopelessly inaccurate long term ones must be trusted.

Seems to me they got the west generally right but missed on about everything else.
They and the cadres they have, and make no mistake they have paid cadres to troll the internet, will do this to anyone who has the temerity to step outside the box. And the idiot who is the VEEP gets away with his idiot remarks as the same cadre won’t go there. We live in very dangerous times, and our own government is the greatest threat to our Liberty.
For the NSA: Bombs away. An explosive idea.
“Climate change” is causing so many bad things. Run

If, I were to be in possession of a mere ounce of that type of brain power hard wired – inured in the head of the one called Professor. Freeman Dyson, then, I would consider myself to be a most fortunate so and so and one of a very exclusive – chosen few.
But then, though it is of little consolation I think to myself, that, blokes blessed with such astounding cerebral illumination – aren’t that common and quite plainly are nowhere to be found, in any Democrat unworthy of the name.
How dare they besmear this great man and in doing so, do they not exhibit themselves to be, as mewling ninnies with nothing better to contribute to society except; hate, malignant envy, calumny and lies.
+1
The hatred of the good for being good.
Wow.
I don’t not understand, simply cannot comprehend how a person could possibly perceive that Professor Dyson is anything other than altruistic, not a one of us is perfect just that some of us are a bit nearer to it. Freeman Dyson, he wants the world to share his vision, discoveries and power of intellect – if we spurn it – we diminish only ourselves.
Biden?! Biden?!
Good Lord… Biden is not worthy to fold Dyson’s laundry.
He’d fuck that up too!
It would be an art piece worthy of Andy Warhol. You could never loose money on it.
If Biden’s puerile antics weren’t so limp…..on some level – it would be funny.
Funny you should mention Andy Warhol. Will be passing right by the Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh Sunday night.
Sadly, the great Dr. Oliver Sacks is terminally ill with ocular melanoma.
Sacks? Sigh…. yes, that is sad news. If he is truly terminal, then I wish him an easy passing and my condolences to his family. He will be missed.
Dyson is now working on some analysis with William Happer to show that mainstream science has overstated the radiative absorption of additional CO2 by 40%. Happer has given some very interesting presentations on the work lately.
This would dramatically decrease the “core” of the atmospheric greenhouse effect, before any of the purported feedbacks (any of which would be significantly reduced, even if real) kick in. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.
See the funny thing is, nonsenses that really ARE nonsenses (like protesting that the earth is flat) are not a threat to things that really ARE true – and are never called out to be silenced (as that is a waste of time, why bother fighting to do that?) The very FACT that climate skepticism is (so vehemently, by the highest politicians), is MAJOR ALARM BELLS to anyone with a scrap of intelligence and level-headedness on the matter! The very fact that it’s fought against at such levels of politics MEANS that it’s a legitimate threat to SOME sort of powerful/political forces that want to get its way (because it sure ain’t the future of the planet and ‘our children’!!!) – because if it were some harmless fringe opinion (like world being flat or earth being young) that didn’t affect their real wheelings and dealings, why would they bother?
I am an avid environmentalist, for all the right reasons – climate change ain’t one of ’em.
I am against BOTH big oil and the climate change movement, and I simply believe they are forces of profit and power merely battling it out on the world stage (the circus), and nothing more.
Think about it: why is the climate change movement so alarmist about sea levels rising (specifically) – an easy target, an easily ‘pull wool over sheeple’s eyes’ subject of pure conjecture, speculation and mere model-based theory (so ripe for interpretation and pre-configured / speculation bias, as well as the typical abuse of ‘just trust us’ beaurocratic priesthood hierarchy), when they say NOTHING of the vast destruction and pollution that’s killing our lands (no matter the sea levels!), sickening our seas and killing millions from cancer and dozens of other modern pandemics ANYWAY, from all the industrial agriculture, resources extraction, and capitalist machinery that we already have in place?
They are not really against big oil but just have their OWN agenda completely separate to environmentalism altogether. It is POLITICAL, and political only.
I still agree with reducing emissions (and prefer them to big oil, if I had to), of course, but they, of course want to take it much further than that (use it to reap in taxes, advance their own political power and influence in general) and of course I want NO part in that wickedness whatsoever.
