AN ARTICLE in Oceanus, the journal of the Massachusetts-based Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, suggests that most of the methods for restoring and protecting New Jersey’s 127 miles of Atlantic Coast beaches are huge wastes of public money, requiring new capital each time a storm takes away another bit of shore.
Furthermore, the article says, a rise in the sea level could eat up 200 or more feet of beachfront in the next twelve years – perhaps as much as 1.8 miles by the year 2100.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

These predictions are constantly being recycled with minor alterations. They’ve learned to make them farther in the future and to assume the rise is logarithmic so you won’t see it now or near term.
Woods Hole should be called Arse Hole. Their predictions are full of brown stuff and not worth that much.
Stupid carbon taxes are not going to stop beach erosion.

“Mean annual recession of beaches worldwide is 1 metre per year but with specific regions experiencing up to 40 metre per year recession. The majority of these extreme occurrences of recession are caused not by natural processes such as sea level rise but by interference with the supply of sand to beaches by the trapping of sand by construction on the coastal dunes, and poor tidal inlet management practices.”

You can’t lose 200 feet of beach – the beach will still be there, just in a slightly different place.
