Seriously, they should be smacked in the face (figuratively) with their own material, from (a very short, in the scheme of things) 9 years ago. I also expect they started changing their story a couple of years ago only when things weren’t going as expected.
I worked in grad school with someone who became a USC staffer, back when. It is apparent their cognitive skills have not improved since. Defend scientists? They have none on staff. Never had.

90% of the US Population doesn’t even know there IS a “Union of Concerned Scientists” in the first place. And the other 10 % doesn’t give a rats hind end about what they have to say.

And recent polling shows the US population’s trust in science and scientists declining. The majority of US citizens simply don’t agree with, or believe what the scientists surveyed do. Gives me hope.
