After reading all of Lois Lerner’s missing E-mails, President Obama announced that there wasn’t “a smidgen of corruption” at the IRS
The IRS’s inspector general confirmed Thursday it is conducting a criminal investigation into how Lois G. Lerner’s emails disappeared, saying it took only two weeks for investigators to find hundreds of tapes the agency’s chief had told Congress were irretrievably destroyed.
Investigators have already scoured 744 backup tapes and gleaned 32,774 unique emails, but just two weeks ago they found an additional 424 tapes that could contain even more Lerner emails, Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told the House Oversight Committee in a rare late-night hearing meant to look into the status of the investigation.
“There is potential criminal activity,” Mr. Camus said.
The most trans-errant administration in history.
I think a much simpler statement is:
The Obama administration is the most corrupt administration in US history.
There. That’s clearer.
Someone asked me about this some time ago, and I explained to them that whenever an email is sent and received, that there are generally at least four different copies of it. It seems clear to me that non-technically literate folk thought that destroying their hard drives would wipe away that evidence. And it seems that backup tapes of the servers have still more copies. (Not a surprise really as making regular backups are good practices) But to the extent that evidence is ignored or not acted upon, it may sadly wind up making little difference ultimately.
Just about everyone with a brain knew there were backup copies. I couldn’t believe the line of questioning didn’t hammer that point. Koskinen claimed the servers were overwritten every 6 months, which seem reasonable. But the questioning should have been about the archives of those servers. Yet either the Republicans had a specific reason not to ask, or were too stupid to even understand what the deal is. They reportedly were told by many people that the systems were backed up, so they had to have known.
I suspect they intentionally did not go down that path for some political reason, since I saw a few interviews where some politicians weaseled out of specific questions on the backups. My feeling is this issue last until 2016, then will go away no matter how the election goes and who wins what. And all those who were responsible are completely off the hook.
He probably meant she didn’t inhale when she deleted the emails
