All the Republicans needed to do today was this:
- Get Comey to talk about Hillary’s NDA – where she agreed that classified information was “marked or unmarked” – and which listed severe criminal penalties for failing to protect it.
- Get Comey to admit that Hillary had potentially exposed critical security information to our enemies.
- Get Comey to admit that Hillary lied repeatedly about her actions.
- Get Comey to admit that Hillary’s decision to direct all of her E-mails to her home server was intentional.
- Get Comey to admit that the job of Secretary of State requires communication of classified information, which due to (4) meant she intentionally sent classified information to an insecure server.
That would have been enough to fry her. Instead, they got into an argument with him over whether Hillary understood the meaning of “C” – and played exactly the game Hillary wanted them to play.
Republicans invariably end up arguing over meaningless talking points, and fail to see the elephants in the room.
