Huffington Post Displays Stupidity At Its Finest

The mental midgets at The Huffington Post note that the Sperry Glacier in Montana has retreated since 1913, and blame man-made climate change.

GOP Climate Denier To Celebrate Park Service Centennial Amid Melting Glaciers

Had the genius who wrote the article done any actual research, he would have known that most of the melting occurred before 1923, and that scientists expected the glacier to be gone by 1950.

Glacier Park Melting at a Rapid Rate
December 29, 1923

CINCINNATI, Dec. 29.—(By the Associated Press)—The hot dry seasons of the past few years have caused rapid disintegration of glaciers In Glacier National Park, Montana, professor W. G. Waterman of Northwestern University declared in an address today before the Geological section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Sperry Glacier, studied by Professor Waterman, has lost one quarter, or perhaps one-third of its Ice In the past 18 years, he said. If this rapid retreat should continue, the Professor added, the glacier would almost disappear in another 25 years.

The fact that the Sperry Glacier is still here 65 years after the predictions of its demise, tells us that melting has slowed dramatically. Melt season temperatures there peaked 80 years ago.

Progressives imagine themselves to be intelligent, when in fact they are simply superstitious nincompoops.

The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.

  1. Olaf Koenders says:

Glaciers are simply rivers of mountain snow compacting into ice over aeons. We don’t need them anyway as they’re practically useless in that state. As has been proven over the last 2 million years, nobody can build or grow anything on them and expect it to remain there for any length of time.

We could allow Leftard Greens and climate scientists to colonise them in view of their protection, followed up by a study of the situation in 90 days.

    • Steve Case says:

Yes, the Climate Change/Global Warming scare is predicated on the notion that warmer weather is a bad thing.

    • Ross says:

The glaciers is Glacier National Park are very important for many of the animals that live there. It remains to be seen how the animals will adapt. I was just there this summer and I felt that the park did a nice job of presenting the topic well without distracting from the main point by getting into the global warming topic. I was surprised.

(My comment is not meant to be about global warming. I am just saying that the melting glaciers will change what type of animals can prosper there.)

Another one that I’m gonna bookmark for future use.

  3. Cam says:

Go to Google Earth and look at the glacier. It’s no coincidence that they use 2008 in the second photo as that is the lowest level of ice since the G.E. photos started. After that, the glacier appears to be growing somewhat.

  4. Don B says:

Of the total shrinkage of Sperry Glacier between 1850 and 2003, 80.6% occurred by 1945. It is natural warming since the Little Ice Age, not mankind returning carbon dioxide to the atmosphere which is causing warming.

    You had me at “nincompoops”….lol

Tony, tries to keep it clean.

He must have the patience of a saint. At times I want to curse like a sailor and toss things at the wall. Contact with Progressives can drive you insane.

I just love reading this website.

Poor libs, you never learn. (never)

I admit the AGW Doomsday cult is pretty cool, but the Moonies have better uniforms!

  8. Christopher Hanley says:

This is all very disheartening, Climate Change™ ‘science’ is fast descending into the pseudosciences like astrology, they have reversed the process of induction, they have their cause and simply busy themselves searching for what they think are effects and if they can’t find them they fabricate them.

  10. William C. says:

The mile high Laurentide Ice Sheet which covered most of Canada and the Northern tier of the US as far south as Western PA and east to NYC started to melt about 10,000 years ago and was gone about 2,000 years later. The Great Lakes are a remnant. No human beings were settled in the Wester Hemisphere at the time.

  11. Steve S says:

When this whole Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW*) thing was really getting up its head of steam a decade ago, one thing that many of the claims had in common was that we were experiencing the warmest temperatures since (generally speaking) the 2nd decade of the 20th century. All the alamism was exhibited over the dramatic warming since the 1980s, but no one seemed to raise the question of “what happened between 1920 and 1980 that cooled everything off?”

*They call it “climate change” nowadays, because on the evidence, AGW became unsupportable. But they really do insist on the “anthropogenic” part of it, regardless. They really should call climate change”ACC”.

    • GWB says:

“what happened between 1920 and 1980 that cooled everything off?”

Well, CFCs I imagine. That was when hairspray became a thing and started to destroy the ozone layer while simultaneously contributing to smog (which is heavily composed of ozone). So, blame it on Big Hair.

  12. Peter Jaxon says:

It’s amazing how many total idiots there are, that still buy into that corruption of science in order to create a crisis to fix. Even were it so, all performance and records clearly show that the government and/or the U.N. would be the very last gangs to call for ANY problem, with a request for help. How many quotes from ”climate scientists” spouting utter, and proven bullshit do people need? I was on a submarine with the Co2 running around 5000, and everything was great. OK, we’re not on a submarine, but the Vostok Ice Cores should be enough for anyone with at least a pair of brain cells floating around. They’re well enough known that among the millions of hits for it has at least one ”myths of ice cores”. They think we’re stupid, and unfortunately they are largely right. Search ‘tv mind control’ and do some reading, if you’re real smart you’ll get rid of it. But don’t take my word, please check it out. Cause gringos, of which I’m one, stare at the aptly named ‘boob tube’ to easily hold the world record for it. If you knew, besides the non stop propaganda, social engineering and lies, that it lowers your I.Q. and shortens your life, and in general makes you stupid and very very easily suggestible. The biggest dept. in the c.i.a. is the ”Entertainment Liaison Office” and people have said:

According to former CIA Director William Colby, “The CIA owns everyone of any significance in the major media.”

“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.” And that comes directly from the mouth of the CIA director, Bill Casey, in 1981.
