July 14, 1936 – Average US Temperature 96 Degrees

On July 14, 1936 the average maximum temperature in the US was an incredible 96 degrees. It was the hottest day on record in Indiana, which reached 116 degrees. Illinois was 114 degrees, Minnesota was 110 degrees, Missouri 112 degrees, Iowa and Wisconsin were 113 degrees.

July 14 maximum temperatures have declined in the US over the past century, as has the frequency of hot days.
