It’s the same reason they refuse to address natural variability, it tanks ‘the cause’, and dries up funding.

  2. emsnews says:

For the next entire week it will be snowing every day and no day will be above 20ºF and all the nights will be at or below zero here in upstate NY.

    • Gail Combs says:

That news makes me happy I am in NC where the current temp is 47 °F. Yesterday was a max = 54 °F and a min = 25 °F

      • Ernest Bush says:

Our lows in Yuma have been higher than your highs this week. My wife’s cabbages and cauliflower are growing splendidly, and a tomato plant and some peppers that survived summer somehow have been really producing.

Most progressives probably never read The Grapes of Wrath.

  4. My study has linked increased seismic activity in the late 20’s early 30’s to weather pattern change by energy release into Pacific which changes weather pattern by changing current patterns.
We did not know or accept Plate Tectonics then….now they could give us real chance at Planning.
Adjustment of drought longitudes here in the 2010’s towards West is reult of greater forestation above the 45th latitude.
We can plan for many events if Dust Bowl politics gats out of the way. Dust Bowl has led to Prok Bowl.
Soil Conservation Service (now PC renamed of course) does not get enough credit for screwing things up. Some of their findings only duplictaed Land Grant College efforts back then….now trillions of waste without amy real planning.
I still trust the USGS because they can not lie about their archives….gut many agencies and pump up USGS for data and use to PLAN!

  5. Andy DC says:

The 1930’s had a much harsher climate and far more extreme weather events than during recent years!

  6. I agree…but ask a few Californian’s & they may disagree!

    • Ernest Bush says:

Southern California has been a place of extreme weather events during the whole Holocene. They have been blessed with relatively nice weather for the last hundred plus years and they still are. There hasn’t been a 50-year drought there in a long time. One could start tomorrow. Floods recorded in the 19th century make anything that has occurred there since look like nature has quit trying.

  7. Add in statistics that Tornados are far fewer in count & strength in alley ..
