In early April, the center of the polar vortex in the lower stratosphere will be in and around Svalbard and there will be expanded ice.

  2. ren says:

See inhibiting polar vortex in the upper stratosphere. This is due to the decomposition of ozone in the northern hemisphere.

      • David A says:

Ren, how is this on topic?

        • Gail Combs says:

Ren is not a native speaker of the English language. I am not sure how much of the debates here he actually understands. How ever he does have good information that I find welcome even if it is off topic.

        • David A says:

Thanks Gail I find it curious as well, but we already have one, one-track poster here.

        • Gail Combs says:

          David,

I have run into ren at other blogs. I think he has a lot of knowledge and finds it very frustrating to try and get his ideas across. That is why he often posts in pictures and uses very short posts. I certainly would hate to try and contribute to a blog in Russian! I wouldn’t even try!

He is also not quite a ‘one track’ poster. I have collections of his dribs and drabs on the solar minimum, ozone, cosmic rays, ENSO, Arctic, Antarctic…. Most are peer-reviewed papers.

        • ren says:

Sorry, but some information is very important for the near future. Only such I try to convey. That’s why I’m not a welcome at WUWT.
Thanks Gail, I use the online translator. Once again I apologize for not in the subject.

        • kentclizbe says:

          Good call, Gail.

Ren appears to want to share information/research/details about climate issues.

But his language/culture skills aren’t quite up to the idiomatic give and take that happens in comments.

He surely does appear to have good info, though.

Maybe Dr Goddard could create a “Ren Topic” for Ren to share his stuff…?

        • Disillusioned says:

          Dear ren,

NO need to apologize! Thank you for your contributions. I look forward to them. 🙂

Your contributions are very welcome here with me. Anytime.

          David A,

I have noticed that conversations meander toward OT all the time. I have learned a lot from OT twists and turns in conversations over time, sometimes more from the OT tangents than from the conversation germane to the OP. As a libertarian-minded soul, I welcome the non sequitur, the one-trackers, the info from the edges, the OT, and am not in favor of censoring or steering anyone, even if subtly. There is enough of that going on over on the dark side.

          ——————

          Gail C.,

Thank you for once again bringing clarity to the conversation. I didn’t know ren’s background, but have enjoyed his/her non sequitur contributions. I would really hate to see them go away.

        Ren
Thank you for the information that you bring to our attention. It is appreciated.

    • Gail Combs says:

Not to mention China whose leader is keeping the hundred years of humiliation by westerners alive…

      • ren says:

Russia and Canada most affected by a decrease in solar activity.
Gail I am a Pole. Best regards and thank you for your understanding. My name is Palmowski.

        • Gail Combs says:

Ren the video below by Robertv is about the poles fighting to save Britons against Hitler. (polish subtitles)

        • ren says:

Gail I do not know did you know that the Poles did not take part in the parade in London.

        • Barbara says:

Thank you for sharing this. It is good to remember what we often forget. And, of course, good to learn what we were never taught. (Yalta. OManuel, you convince me, but I’m not a physicist.) I had what I thought was an excellent education, but the process of dumbing down our schools apparently had already begun back then.

  3. Greg Locke says:

The chaos in the Middle East is the fault of George Bush. Poor Mr. Obama tried to pick up the pieces left from the Iraq war, but even an omnipotent being such as He couldn’t put back together what Bush broke.

    • joelobryan says:

When you pull out military, economic, and diplomatic support as Obama did at the end of 2011, you leave a vacuum. Opportunistic regimes like vacuums. It is a matter of much record that the Iraq instability was predicted and Obama was warned by his SecDef’s Panetta and Gates and his Generals, that he risked unleashing destabilizing the hard won success of Iraq.
Obama calls Iraq War a Success:
      http://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/dec/14/barack-obama-iraq-war-success
      Remember it was Obama that:
      1. warned Syria Assad not to use CW or face severe punishment, then do nothing.
      2. called ISIS the JV team, and watched them march across northern and western Iraq.
      3. negotiates with Iran on sanctions versus nukes, while watching them fill-in the military assistance role to Iraq,

Obama is the unrepentent incompetent amatuer at work here. Of that there is no doubt of the on-going catastrophes the current President is inflicting across the world.

    • LOL in Oregon says:

      Haaa, Haaa, Haaa, Haaa!
It is all Bush’s fault! Excellent! Haaaa, Haaa, Haaa!
YES! 6 years is not enough time for an incompetent to accomplish anything!
If someone has zero skills, they will always try to “shift the blame”.
Have any other good insights into delusional thinking by some?

    • spren says:

I am certainly no fan of GWB, but why is he always blamed for Obama’s situations, but he is never absolved for what he inherited from Clinton? A major recession began in August of 2000 but Bush was blamed for it and squandering the so-called budget surplus that never existed except in mirrors? We had the dot.com meltdown in 2000 that made all of the projected revenues nothing but a mirage. And what about Clinton’s refusal to accept Bin Laden when he was handed to him on a silver platter?

  4. omanuel says:

Thanks to the climate debate and those now trying to intimidate the winners, we know it matters not if

    1. CO2 heats or cools the Earth,
    2. Solar neutrinos oscillate or not,
    3. The Sun makes or consumes H,
    4. Neutrons attract or repel neutrons,
    5. Etc., etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum, but . . .

it matters that the UN encouraged governments to use public funds to DECEIVE the public about the source of energy in cores of

    Heavy atoms
    Some planets
    Ordinary stars
    Ordinary galaxies
    The expanding universe

immediately after being formed on 24 Oct 1945 !

    1. Changing the internal composition of the Sun from:
_ a.) Mostly iron (Fe) in 1945 to
    _ b.) Mostly hydrogen (H) in 1946
    2. Changing the definition of nuclear stability from:
_ a.) Aston’s valid concept of “nuclear packing fraction” before WWII to
_ b.) Weizsacker’s flawed concept of “nuclear binding energy” after WWII..

After WWII, the integrity of these fields of science were destroyed worldwide:

Astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, climatology, geology, nuclear, particle, planetary, solar and theoretical physics. See:

    • omanuel says:

Ren has probably had personal experience from living under a totalitarian government that may enlighten those if us who could not imagine that George Orwell actually predicted the future correctly in “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.

  5. gator69 says:

Libertarians saw Orwell’s “1984” as a warning, Progressives saw it as a plan for the future.

    • Gail Combs says:

And the Sheeple just nodded their heads and went along with their slavers.

      • omanuel says:

The reassuring fact, Gail, is the slavers are arrogant fools that actually believed they could hide the “Creator, Destroyer and Sustainer” of every atom, life and world from the public and thus take totalitarian control of the world for themselves.

They demonstrate well why arrogance and ignorance are always close allies.

  6. Psalmon says:

I wonder if we have ANY nuclear response capabilities in the US. It sounds a bit conspiracy theoryist, but Panetta left Defense after 20 months. Hagel left Defense after two years. Six weeks later Defense is releasing all the details of the Israeli nuclear program. There are orders coming down that these guys may not agree with. The Senate and House are no longer an effective vetting organizations.

Here is BHO in 2009, the first three sentences have always bothered me. Who knows what he’s been doing with his pen and phone:

“So today, I state clearly and with conviction America’s commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons. First, the United States will take concrete steps towards a world without nuclear weapons. To put an end to Cold War thinking, we will reduce the role of nuclear weapons in our national security strategy and urge others to do the same. Make no mistake: As long as these weapons exist, the United States will maintain a safe, secure and effective arsenal to deter any adversary and guarantee that defense to our allies, including the Czech Republic. But we will begin the work of reducing our arsenal. To reduce our warheads and stockpiles, we will negotiate a new strategic arms reduction treaty with the Russians this year. To achieve a global ban on nuclear testing, my administration will immediately and aggressively pursue U.S. ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. After more than five decades of talks, it is time for the testing of nuclear weapons to finally be banned.” BHO, Prague, April 2009

    Words matter.

    • omanuel says:

I share your concerns, in large part because I know world leaders have secretly worked together since the end of WWII to hide from the public the powerful source of energy in cores of:

      Atoms heavier than 150 amu
      Some planets – like Jupiter
      Ordinary stars like the Sun
      Galaxies like the Milky Way
      The expanding Universe . . .

a feat of worldwide deceit that required worldwide communications between leaders of supposedly independent nations.

      • joelobryan says:

You give way, way, way too much credit to any possible scientific intellect of GW Bush, WJ Clinton, and BH Obama.

You state, “because I know.” My hunch is you really mean, “because I believe” (in their secretly working together). Science is not about beliefs. That simple fact is why the CAGW alarmists are so wrong in misunderstanding climate. The heading at the beginning of this blog quotes Richard Feynman (i.e. to be skeptical of experts). Richard Feynman also wrote and spoke about “scientists” who simply take matters of science as “belief”, he called them Cargo Cult scientists. (go read his book to understand the context of that phrase.)

Stop with the conspiracy theory on energy and matter.

    • Gail Combs says:

      Trojan Horse.

What better way for the Communist/Socialist/Fabians to destroy the USA than to place a traitor in the White House.

  7. Ted says:

Not really on topic, but I can’t find a better post to put this in.

Recently, on a post here that I don’t have time to look up, someone commented that the new scare would be “climate stagnation.” It appears that they’ve begun:
“Climate change does not cause extreme winters, new study shows”
    http://phys.org/news/2015-03-climate-extreme-winters.html

They argue the always ignored, but mathematically inevitable fact that if the poles warm faster than the lower latitudes, temperature extremes have to go down. Delta T is decreasing… We’re all doomed. Doooooooooooooooomed.
