“The soup here, it’s poison! ”
“And such small portions too”
If climate alarmists believe we are about to run out of oil, what are they upset about? Isn’t that what they say they want?
Why are they spending so much energy attacking people who are calling out their scam?

Hey Juan, fancy meeting you here.
Great book “Don’t Stop CO2 Emissions.” A recommended read for all.
I have said this for years, including in testimony before the National Academy of Science. What is interesting that you often hear speeches or read op-eds by shaman who will make the claim that we need to stop consuming oil because if we continue to consume oil at the current rate for another 100 years, we would cause catastrophic global warming; and then these same shaman will say that we must shift away from oil because we will soon run out of it. I wish I had the time to document all the shaman that have advocated for curbs on gasoline consumption because we were going to run out, and now advocate curbing gasoline consumption because we have too much oil; i.e. we will cause global warming if we keep consuming oil at the current rate.
Since the 1990s I’ve stated their goal is to control energy and by controlling energy control people. Whatever the topic they take the view which allows them to control the energy people have access to.

They want control, because they think that real progress is evil.

Aldous Huxley had it right. They want power — which is to say, they want control over YOU. Once they get control, they want to make you suffer. Why? Because your suffering is the proof that they control you. If you are not suffering, perhaps you are doing what YOU want. Only by your suffering can they be certain that it is THEY who control your actions.
They are very sick puppies, and I am concerned that it will take blood in the streets to stop them.
Wait…. was that Huxley, or Orwell? Someone help me out! I think it is true either way.
They’d both agree with you
To stop them with “blood in the streets” means the group doing the stopping must have more power than the current group. Once a group gains that much power they will want to keep it. Much death and destruction for an uncertan short respite. Yes we might enjoy the respite, should it occur, but a nonviolent solution would be wiser.
That’s not necessarily true SnowL’. Look at the American Revolution. A bunch of farmers took on the largest most powerful empire that ever existed on our planet and won and only about 30~40% were truly behind the Revolution. You forget scale in all of this. The US has about 1.3 million active duty military and about 100k armed federal “officers.” On top of that are about 1.1 million police officers in State and local agencies. That’s 2.5 million folks. Granted there’s some crossover but the NRA alone has over 5 million members. Various groups have tried to estimate the numbers of households with arms or individuals with arms but the numbers are wildly disparate since the anti gun folks have political agendas and the pro gun folks don’t collect that kind of info and if they do, it’s secret. Add to that the fact that many people, when surveyed, will not answer or not answer truthfully about their firearm ownership. Neither my wife or I will.
Assume about 35% of the people in the US are gun owners, slightly over 100 million, or other numbers say 50~60% of all households. There are an estimated 300 million firearms in private hands in the US, that includes almost 500k “NFA” weapons like machine guns, automatic rifles, destructive devices like mortars and grenade launchers. (Those numbers are skewed by the inclusion of “silencers” and short barreled rifles.) Suffice it to say that there are enough weapons in our country to arm the entire adult population. That would be why the Progressives have been trying for over a century to disarm Americans. The PEOPLE are a far larger force.
I would also assume that well over half of the police and military would (properly) balk at suppressing civilians en masse. Our government NEEDS to fear us and they no longer do. I would have hoped that the last election woke them up, but it doesn’t appear to have had much effect. I’m terrified that a far more dangerous future awaits us if things continue on the current path.
My county sheriff has made it abundantly clear that his department will have no part in any form of gun confiscation. In fact, he has said he will stand shoulder to shoulder with the gun owners of this county.
In my college days, one of my professors asked how many of my classmates owned unregistered firearms (the majority of the class was older than me, I believe it was a Psychology class), and about 75% of their hands went up.
Whatever the interpretation of ‘what they want’…the bottom line is they have a product and we have the money…unless we’re prepared to go and drill for the stuff ourselves then of course we will be victims of market effects
Unless you think that they should drill for oil and charge us a price which only just covers their costs…..You may be trapped into purchasing oil, but it isn’t their fault !
Yes, weak people always take up a victim mentality.
Nobody’s trapped into purchasing oil. You can stop anytime you like and so can I. Neither of us will though because of the great benefits it brings to our daily lives, and rightly so.
But at least I am super glad oil exists and know it will be around for a long time. You however seem to have a self-loathing attitude to life. Show us some balls, quit oil now!
And its byproducts such as plastics – can the Internet exist without plastic components?
Let’s knit a PC today!
We should start pressing down & rendering piles of greasy academics. Except they’d probably like that.

When the tsunami hit Japan in 2011, and the Fukushima reactor went bung, Paul Krugman said “And yes, this does mean that the nuclear catastrophe could end up being expansionary, if not for Japan then at least for the world as a whole. If this sounds crazy, well, liquidity-trap economics is like that — remember, World War II ended the Great Depression.”
If progressives believe cyclones are coming, it’s all good Keynesian economic stimulus, they should rejoice at all those broken windows. BTW there are people claiming the 2011 tsunami was also caused by global warming:

That’s the same reason warmists can’t stand “the pause”.It shows they were wrong and that’s a real threat to them gaining any more power over us. Instead of rejoicing that maybe the planet isn’t overheating they double down and say the heat is in the ocean’s and when it comes back things will be twice as bad.
I swear that if one of them had irrefutable information that the whole AGW thing was without scientific basis they would kill that scientist before he could spill the beans. What should be good news for the planet is deadly news to them.
Unfortunately – the energy spent on skeptic attacks is both renewable and cheap.
So are the attacks.
“We are going to fry because of global warming. But I sure wish the world would warm up a lot faster!” -typical left wing warmist
“I’d like the world to warm up quicker!” -Phil Jones

Before there’s “Peak” anything, it gets very expensive and a cheaper (usually better) substitute is found (usually in great abundance). And it starts again!
Malthusians always seem to forget the inventiveness of humans when they are allowed the freedom to invent.
