Secretary Of State Unfamiliar With The First Amendment

when science tells us that our climate is changing and human beings are largely causing that change, by what right do people stand up and just say, ‘well, I dispute that, or I deny that elementary truth?’ ”

John Kerry Says Climate Science Is as Settled as Gravity | TheBlaze.com

John Kerry thinks that science is speaking to him – like :

Children just won’t know what snow is

Milder winters mean fewer heavy snowfalls

Apparently he isn’t familiar with this document :

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

  1. Truthseeker says:

To a Progressive, democracy is an inconvenience.

    • Hold it. You have it all upside down. We are a nation of laws, not men.

The First Amendment to our Constitution guarantees the right to free speech to all Americans with permits by the authorities, exercised in a properly isolated, enclosed and supervised free-speech zone, unless they are white, male or conservative, or their speech denies settled science, or, God forbid, their speech could upset somebody.

There are some limits, though. Never on campus. Not on campus. No. Never.

  2. mikegeo says:

The jaw that talks like a man says one more inane thing. Its a frightening cabal in Washington – Kerry, Hillary and Barrack. Some kind of triumvirate of the duplicitous.

  3. gator69 says:

The First Amendment is a ‘living breathing’ document, and being strangled by thugs.

  4. DD More says:

Please do not make me listen to the former SS and her screeching, “Hillary Clinton says “I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration that somehow you’re not patriotic. And we should stand up and say ‘We are Americans and we have a right to disagree with any administration.'”

And let us not remind Long Face about negotiating with the enemy in 1970’s Paris.

    • Gail Combs says:

Actually the US CONGRESS voted Unanimously (minus three) that we no longer have the RIGHT of freedom of assembly and free speech. Not only that but you get ten years in jail if they think you have a ‘weapon’ (a wooden stake with a sign could be classified as a ‘weapon’)

Anti occupy law ends freedom to protest: The government says the anti-protest bill was just a small tweak of the existing law. Don’t believe it.

…. it’s important to understand what has changed since the original law was enacted in 1971, because it shows how much a tiny tweak to the intent requirement in a statute can impact the free speech of everyone.

For one thing, the law makes it easier for the government to criminalize protest. Period. It is a federal offense, punishable by up to 10 years in prison to protest anywhere the Secret Service might be guarding someone. For another, it’s almost impossible to predict what constitutes “disorderly or disruptive conduct” or what sorts of conduct authorities deem to “impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions.”

The types of events and individuals warranting Secret Service protection have grown exponentially since the law was enacted in 1971. Today, any occasion that is officially defined as a National Special Security Event calls for Secret Service protection. NSSE’s can include basketball championships, concerts, and the Winter Olympics, which have nothing whatsoever to do with government business, official functions, or improving public grounds. Every Super Bowl since 9/11 has been declared an NSSE…

Remember the cops told the Bundy Ranch protesters they had to go to the ‘Free Speech Zone’ WTF!?!
BLM Feds Abandon ‘Free Speech Zones’, Protesters Reclaim 1st Amendment Right in Bunkerville “…..One of the most egregious pieces of tyranical federal overreach enacted since 2001 has been the regressive government policy of setting up “Free Speech Zones”, or the cynically titled ‘First Amendment Areas’….”

After Bundy Ranch Fiasco, Reid and Co. Exposed as Real Extremists “….The feds also came under severe criticism for unleashing a dog on a pregnant woman, assaulting a cancer victim, tasering a rancher, and aiming sniper rifles at peaceful protesters. Outrage is still growing…..”

… U.S. Sen. Harry Reid (shown, D-Nev.), who after launching a series of bizarre tirades against the ranchers and their friends, is being widely criticized and ridiculed — especially for his dangerous attempt to equate American citizens who protest government with “domestic terrorists.”

….the Obama administration, led by a former Reid staffer who took over the BLM, descended on the Bundy ranch with heavily armed agents. Making matters worse, officials even tried to corral protesters into an unconstitutional “Free Speech zone,” sparking nationwide outrage…..

….many other publications have documented, there is almost certainly more to the story. Sen. Reid and his family, for example, are being accused of corruption yet again for having multiple financial conflicts of interest, perhaps explaining their fanatical reaction to the standoff. Many lawmakers, though, say it is part of a much deeper problem.

“This is not an isolated incident and is part of a broader war on rural America,” Washington State Rep. Matthew Shea, who is working with other Western officials to evict the feds…. Another lawmaker seeking to wrest control over the almost 50 percent of land in the West claimed by the U.S. government, Utah House Speaker Becky Lockhart, said: “What’s happened in Nevada is really just a symptom of a much larger problem.”….

Note the US government DOES NOT OWN that land we do…. That is I think we do unless Hitlery gave it to the Chinese as collateral for the Chinese held US debt

Harry Reid, A Chinese Green Energy Company, The BLM and The Cliven Bundy Ranch – The Story You Aren’t Being Told
Steve had a lot more on this story. A guy who used to work for the BLM had already been looking at the land transfer records and found the BLM was confiscating ranches and then transferring them WITHOUT PAY to the Reid family.

      • Snowleopard says:

A “State of Emergency” was declared in 2001 which basically suspends the Constitution. It has been renewed ever since by Shrub and O’Bomber. The major parties have developed no significant opposition to its continuance. Until such time as the People find a way to challenge this openly and decide to do so, we can expect rule by executive order indefinitely.

        • Jason Calley says:

“Until such time as the People find a way to challenge this openly and decide to do so, we can expect rule by executive order indefinitely.”

Gandhi managed to persuade the Brits to leave India by his reasoning, his ethical arguments and his use of non-violence. Unfortunately such an approach only works on people who have reason, an ethos and a sense of shame. Logic, ethics and non-violence do not work on sociopaths with an addiction to unrestrained power.

We are approaching a fish or cut bait moment.

  5. The crux of this issue is that when people like John Kerry say “science” they don’t mean actual science. What they mean is a group of academics who they happen to be chums with.

So whereas what he actually means is “what right do you have to argue with a bunch of political activist academics” … and therefore every right. What he wants it to mean is “what right have you to argue with facts derived by rigorous of repeatable test to a standard that is beyond doubt by people who aren’t politically active biased, partisan public sector nose in the trough brown nosing chums of the big boss”.

  6. Michael 2 says:

    “I deny that elementary truth?”

I doubt that anyone would say such a thing. It is more likely one would say:

“I deny what you believe is an elementary truth but I do not believe it is an elementary truth.”

  7. kuhnkat says:

Did Kerry happen to find those gravity waves???

  8. Gary H says:

    Even if he believes that it’s a consensus view . . . it’s still simply a theory.

    “. . . Elementary truth . .? “

  9. NancyG says:

Odd. Both Kerry and Biden made references to gravity. But we’re not supposed to think this might possibly be scripted. A certain troll on this site believes we are all spouting big oil talking points but she doesn’t see that behavior on the other side.
