The recent forecast by the Environmental Protection Agency that a general warming of the earth’s atmosphere will occur during the next decades has sent shivers all along the East Coast.
In Arizona they are wondering whether the recent floods will become a permanent feature of their climate. And in New York they are thinking of selling the city’s snowplows.
That editorial sold papers, and that’s all that counts.

There was a time when those who dared to call out the massive Libor manipulation conspiracy (such as what Zero Hedge did with one of its first posts in 2009) for being a massive Libor manipulation conspiracy some 4 years before the “theory” became a fact, were branded as scaremongering, fringe voices, best to be ignored. Then, of course, once the “theory” became “fact” it suddenly was perfectly obvious to everyone in retrospect.
But the bigger question, and what stumped the so-called experts, is how could something so vast, with so many moving pieces, remain a secret for as long as it did.
The answer is extremely simple: everyone who was in on the “secret” was also benefiting from it: from the lowliest Libor rigger to the CEO of Barclays and every other major bank, they all knew what was going on, but also knew that if the information became public knowledge, the jig would be up, and everyone’s benefits would evaporate with some even going to jail (at least in a hypothetical legal system in which bankers actually go to jail). In other words, it was merely a case where everyone’s interest was aligned to maintain the conspiracy cartel as long as possible.

According to the “study”, a 0.5 degree F rise in temperature causes 10% frog shrinkage. Are we to assume that the frogs at sea level are only about 10% the size of those at 1000 meters?

Yes, the late Professor Taschdjian believed that restoring CO2 to the atmosphere and the predicted warming of the atmosphere were a good thing.
CO2 is good for plants and warming is good for plants. Evaporation of water keeps the temperature reasonable even at the equator.
Increase in CO2 allows plants to reclaim the deserts because the stomata do not release as much water.

Well, Edgar Taschdjian was a biologist.
And Alfred Wegener who is recognized as the father of the theory of Continental drift and thus set foundation for the theory of plate tectonics was trained as an astronomer.
And that is how it works. The history of science has many examples of scientists and in some cases those with no formal training in science, making major discoveries in fields in which they had no formal training. In nearly every case the prominent scientists in the field such giants have imposed their theories upon, have done their damnedest to repudiate them, until their field finally adopts them as their gospel, often at times after the death of those who’s theory they so vehemently opposed.
And yet today, to listen to the AGW faithful one would think they have never had any training in the history of science.
Personally I believe the history of science should be a mandatory requirement for a HS diploma. If it was, there would be one hell of a lot more skeptics.
Oh, I agree. I was not making an argumentum ab auctoritate. Edgar Taschdjian referred to himself as an agro-engineer despite being one of the broadly educated thinkers of the 20th century. I just meant that he knew what makes plants grow and said so, contradicting the generalized statements of the climatologist dimwits.

Just bring back Logic and Critical Thinking classes to our public schools. They were removed from the curriculum for a sinister reason.

I graduated from HS in 1974. It was a pretty good sized school and my graduating class was over 500, but I really can’t remember a class in critical thinking being offered. There were however classes offered for logic and philosophy. I still think though that specific to the subject concentrated on here, a history of science class would do the trick.
Hey Rah! Logic and Philosophy was one of the names given to critical thinking classes that virtually every public school once required. Jimmy Carter’s administration was not the beginning of the dumbing down of public schools, it started much earlier. I believe it was FDR who stated his goal for public schools was to produce a compliant work force.
My father’s generation was probably the last who as a rule were taught how to think on their own. Thankfully in my many different schools I attended across two continents I was introduced to critical thinking. Dad helped there too, bringing home military and civilian conundrums that needed extra eyes. Once it was a War College puzzle in which a photographic paper company went bust because they could not pinpoint a fault in their manufacturing and/or storage processes, I figured it out in less than an hour, I was 13.
If I were raising kids today I would home school.
Since ~9,000 years ago the earth has been cooling and as the above maps show the earth has been getting drier and the deserts bigger.

NYC decided to not snow plow due to financial considerations. I owned property there back then.
We FREAKED OUT due to the blizzards and impossibility of getting around and besieged the mayor at the time and in no uncertain terms, ordered him to keep up with snow plowing.
And guess what? Before this last winter, the mayor of Jersey City talked about doing away with snow plows! You can guess what rage followed this announcement.
If you were a real believer in CAGW and living in New York, you would insist that they sell the snow plows and buy gondola’s. Hansen, in 1988, was predicting the oceans would cover the streets of New York within 20 to 30 years, making the city another Venice. His prediction, along with all the other scare mongering lies, have all failed to materialize. Nothing, absolutely nothing has come true that was predicted as a result of increasing CO2. The joke continues with the premier of Merchants of Doubt. How many failed predictions are they going to discuss? None, they just move on to the next scary prediction and the media continues to feed on the lies.
It looks like NYC had better not put their snow plows away just yet.
