than it is logical that ground measurements which cover an estimated 1/10.000% of worlds surface temperature are more accurate than a sattelite which covers 100%.
And having almost zero data for the air temperature over nearly 70% of the Earth !

No actually it is worst than that there is zero data for 97% of the earth, man only occupies 3% of the earth surface. The oceans take up 71% of the earth surface when you throw in Antarctic, Greenland Siberia, Northern Canada, the deserts and mountains you find we don’t occupy much of this earth. More people need to do long road trips across central and western Canada and the US and then look closely at the maps of the earth, most of the land does not have roads.

It used to be easier to change your mind even after you made very confident assertions. Unless you were famous, shouted in the square or published your claims, it happened in private and not too many people knew. A retraction could also be made selectively and in private.
These days everyone can broadcast their claims, find fellow believers and publicly attack others for disagreeing. The record of our words is durable, public and easy to access. It takes more courage to admit we were wrong, especially if our beliefs were stupid and our attacks vicious.
The vain and insecure find it impossible to retract. Some of the people above will never admit they were wrong.

But we get mathematically-challenged idiots on Twitter who read about Gavin’s warmest year ever claim (which, I believe even Gav admitted had about a 1 in 3 chance of being reliable), and they then go on squawking about how much more accurate the admittedly unreliable bastardized, UHI-corrupted land data are than the unadjusted satellite data. Amazing!
People like Mr. Johnson act as if the rest of the warmest climate community, who have been falling all over themselves with excuses for “the pause” – an admission from most in the AGW community that the warming trend indeed stopped 18 years ago – doesn’t exist.
So, Mr. Johnson, which of your leaders are lying? The ones who have admitted the pause is REAL? Or those who provide us with figures that they have admitted are unreliable? SMH

Human nature has not changed since the constitution was written. Governance is an age old problem. Our system of checks and balances is a brilliant solution.
And for those who decry our intransigent congress — that happens to be a feature, not a bug, of democracy. Our government should remain in gridlock and perpetually be a debating club, and leave the people alone. Only if there is a clear mandate, a clear majority wanting something, should it act.
I have learned that in general people cannot interpret data properly and are easily tricked with various analysis techniques. I don’t know why. I suspect it may be the schools but perhaps most people aren’t wired to see it. I’ve even learned not to make data analogies because they’ll then attack the analogy rather than see the lesson in it regarding data.
Steve has presented a perfect analogy for a data set that reaches a plateau and its interpretation but they can’t grasp it. This is the sort of response I get with similar attempts to describe how to look at data, how people use analysis to manipulate people, and so on. Their minds are either made up, they are embarrassed about being wrong, or they just can’t grasp that way.

Gail refers to a book, one I’ve read a good amount of before the author’s writing style annoyed me too much. I prefer the way John Taylor Gatto’s presentation. Anyway one of the first steps was to impose a variant of the Prussian schools on americans. The more educated a person is, the less able they are to grasp an analogy like that. This started before the communist revolution in the Soviet Union. But we have to start looking at funding and such to understand how it’s all related.
Education became training and indoctrination. Climate scientists are generally institutionalized* people with lots of this education. Very well educated good at school institutionalized people are like religious people, they can only see one answer. Churches are institutions and religious people as we typically know them follow institutional beliefs. If the institution says 2+2=5, it’s five no matter how may times you hand them two sticks and then two more sticks and they count them out to four. If you’re clever in a debate you can do that to such an opponent. You can hand them the pieces and they’ll count to four but then tell you 2+2=5.

The schooling in the USA was intentionally changed by the fabian progressive John Dewey so it will not produce analytical thinkers.

and
1) they are in remarkable agreement
2) they get most of the entire globe. not too many measurements in the Andes, Antarctica, in the Mohave desert etc, and almost a majority of land measurements are missing or are corrupted.
The argo float system has not showed warming.
3) Hadcrut 4, The worlds central authority as been conceding no warming for 18 years, as have the bulk of the warmest scientists, like Trenberth.
4) There have been over 50 reasons (excuses) as to why it has not warmed, beginning with the idea that heat is hiding over a half mile deep in the ocean, (now debunked) and recently blaming it on additional emissions from small volcanoes.
I usually do not pay attention to people who are unwilling to do the work to find out even a minimum of facts.
And according to USCRN, the USA has been cooling at about 0.5ºC/decade since the “reference” system was established in 2005.
What’s really funny is that because they are very obviously forcing USHCN to closely match USCRN, USHCN actually shows slightly more COOLING since 2005 than USCRN (about 0.8ºC/decade)
Even funnier is that BOTH show more cooling than UAH for the USA48
(UAH shows cooling of about 0.16ºC/decade since 2005)

The fact of the matter is that between 1940 and 1977, clearly global cooling. Then between 1977 and 1997, there was global warming. Since 1997, flat. To take one 20 year period out of the last 75 years to “prove” global warming is the ultimate cherry pick, when CO2 has been constantly rising the entire time. By speaking the obvious truth, does that qualify me for banishment?

I have a question, actually a couple of questions. In the past, you’ve compared this winter to a similar winter in the 1930s (1934, maybe?). Anyway, if I recall correctly, that year also had some blisteringly hot summertime temperatures.
Any thoughts as to what mechanisms might cause such a dichotomy in temperatures in a single calendar year? Any thoughts on the probably of recurrence this summer if we assume all that has happened in the past can happen again?

I suppose then, given the relatively low severity of drought conditions when compared to the 1930s, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a repeat of those summertime conditions despite a very cold winter for 2014-2015.
