Bill Nye is the Nyet guy.
I think I just figured out why Nye puts my teeth on edge so much. It is not that he is ignorant. Lots of people are ignorant, and ignorance is a curable condition. It is his arrogant certainty. That trait is not just unscientific, it is anti-scientific. Every true practitioner of science knows that what we believe today may be shown lacking tomorrow. That knowledge gives a scientist a certain humility that is not found in other less rigorous fields. Nye seems incapable of accepting that maybe — just maybe! — he has come down on the wrong side of CAGW.
By the way, years back when I first started looking in to the whole Global Warming meme, one of the first things that struck me was the distinct difference between the CAGW proponents and the sceptics. The CAGW crowd were true believers but very weak on data and logic. The sceptics were evidence based and willing to examine their own beliefs.

I say, there is nothing more dangerous than ignorance and arrogance combined.

I must agree with you on willful ignorance. Because, that’s sort of the flavor I had in mind about the combination of arrogance and ignorance. Warmies have been shown the data and many refuse to acknowledge ANY of it. It both is willful ignorance, and the refusal to accept data, whilst ridiculing skeptics as “deniers” is the epitome of arrogant.
And you’re right about arrogance being fixable. Comeuppance has been known to knock large boulders off of shoulders. 🙂

The weather during the 30s, specifically 1933-1936, was extraordinary. Far more extreme than any comparable 4-year span in recent times. What’s sad is WE know this type of extreme weather has occurred before and WILL happen again, maybe even within our lifetimes (maybe not). With all the hysteria heaped upon relatively benign events, like “Superstorm Sandy,” which was a strong storm in its own right, but compared to something like 1938, there isn’t any. Then there was 1821. Could you imagine THAT 1821 storm happening now, with the hysteria manufactured by the climate propagandists? Or the next category 3 or 4 (or 5?!?!) hurricane landfall? Or significant river flood of the Ohio River? Events that were rather routine but haven’t happened in a decade? It’s going to be absurd.

I love the fact that believers in man-made climate change will only observe differences in the last 20, 100 or 200 years, as everything outside of that analysis doesn’t hold water. 70 years? They fall back on the 100. 400 years? They bring up the 200. 5 years? Not relevant. 5000 years? Not relevant.
But they aren’t really willing to debate. They just want to feel the moral superiority flow. If they actually believed a word they said, they would practice what they preach.
