all the people on that list should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity. they must also be as willfully ignorant as it is possible to be as well as stupid. it became apparent a long time ago the co2 temperature relationship as proposed by them all is wrong,no ifs, no buts.

we might know more about where the major emissions and sinks of co2 are of course, if the oco2 project ever sees the light of day. currently it appears it has put another nail in the coffin of the cagw judging by the silence from the people that run the project.

  2. bit chilly says:

also ,american people should be asking for their wasted tax dollars back .

    I. The scientific revolution began in 1543 with Copernicus’ report the Sun controls Earth from the gravitational center of the Solar System, and

II. Quietly ended in 1945 with a secret decision to hide the fact that the Sun is the Creator & Sustainer of every atom, life and planet in the Solar System:

  4. Dave1billion says:

RICO was always an over-reaching law in the first place.

It was designed to take down the mob (a gross oversimplification) because the higher ups could deny responsibility for their underling’s actions.

It’s a classic case illustrating the folly of giving up a little freedom to secure more safety.

It’s been used by the left to penalize organizations that are opposed to abortion and as a tactic to keep a baseball team from moving.

Even if an RICO attempt eventually fails in the court, imagine the ruinous legal fees that guys like Tony and the WUWT guys would have to pony up. To prove their innocence. And the fact that future skeptics would have to balance the costs of throwing in the towel against the against the riskof financial ruin.

You can see the forerunner of this in Mann vs National Review (a non RICO action) a lawsuit based on an article that criticized Manns work and satirically compared him to Jerry Sandusky (poor taste, but actionable?). The want a legal ruling that AGW is a scientific fact.

And the left is foaming at the mouth to use RICO on our vast right-wing, fossil fueled conspiracy. I do a little lurking on the pro-AGW sites and those guys can’t wait to see it used.

It WILL happen. As the empirical evidence mounts against them and their predictions fail to come true they’re becoming increasingly desperate. No tactics are off the table.

    • No it won’t. The whole thing is completely frivolous nonsense.

      • rah says:

It’s a lot harder to scam a court of law than it is the public. Just like Mann is finding out the hard way. Discovery is EXACTLY what the liars fear.

      • dave1billion says:

Here’s hoping you’re correct Tony. Just because it’s frivolous doesn’t mean some Federal prosecutor somewhere won’t try it.

When I say it WILL happen I mean that I believe someone will try it, not that it’ll be successful or go anywhere. The intimidation is what counts. Luckily you seem to be impervious to that.

The cases against Tom Delay and Ted Stevens come to mind, as well as the indictments against Governor Rick Perry (and Stevens’ was charged by the Feds, not an Austin kangaroo court).

        • To prosecute a RICO case there would have to be evidence of money, organizational ties and knowledge of wrongdoing. None of those three things have any relevance to the skeptic community

        • Gail Combs says:

Tony, I think they would start by gunning for Heartland and/or the Koch brothers. Those are the icons raised up as the heart of the ‘EVIL DENIERS’

          From Source Watch:

…Documents written by or referencing this person or organization are contained in the Anti-Environmental Archive, launched by Greenpeace on Earth Day, 2015. The archive contains 3,500 documents, some 27,000 pages, covering 350 organizations and individuals. The current archive includes mainly documents collected in the late 1980s through the early 2000s by The Clearinghouse on Environmental Advocacy and Research (CLEAR), an organization that tracked the rise of the so called “Wise Use” movement in the 1990s during the Clinton presidency. Access the index to the Anti-Environmental Archives here.

The Anti-environmental Archives would be where they have gathered the information to go to the courts on individuals or organizations. (Source Watch and the Anti-environmental Archives are a circle jerk with PolluterWatch a project of Greenpeace. )

The Heartland Institute is a Chicago based libertarian think tank founded in 1984. Heartland is known for their climate change denial, tobacco health risk denial, and their staunch stance against most environmental regulation.

So is National Association of Manufacturers – 42 documents

I note that if you google Science and Environmental Policy Project you get nothing but disinfo spewing for the first several entries including an attack piece by Society of Environmental Journalists (wwwDOT)sej.org

        • Gail Combs says:

Continuing with Science and Environmental Policy Project,
          Another Dis-info site reports:

          Business-Managed Environment
Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP)

The Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP) was set up in 1990 with the help of the Washington Institute for Values in Public Policy which provided it with free office space. (SEPP is no longer affiliated with Moon and receives its funding from various foundations.)….

Singer has done consulting work for companies such as Exxon, Shell, and Arco and SEPP has received funds from ExxonMobil. According to the Environmental Research Foundation:

“For years, Singer was a professor at the University of Virginia where he was funded by energy companies to pump out glossy pamphlets pooh-poohing climate change. Singer hasn’t published original research on climate change in 20 years and is now an ‘independent’ consultant, who spends his time writing letters to the editor, and testifying before Congress, claiming that ozone-depletion and global warming aren’t real problems.”

In 1998 people from SEPP, oil company Exxon, and others attended a meeting at the American Petroleum Institute, to plan a $5 million campaign:

to train up to 20 “respected climate scientists” on media—and public—outreach with the aim of “raising questions about and undercutting the ‘prevailing scientific wisdom’ ” and, in particular, “the Kyoto treaty’s scientific underpinnings” so that elected officials “will seek to prevent progress toward implementation.” The plan, once exposed in the press, “was never implemented as policy,” says Marshall’s William O’Keefe, who was then at API.

          http://www.herinst.org/BusinessManagedDemocracy/environment/warming/SEPP.html

THAT sort of ‘information’ is what will be used to legitimize RICO against the skeptics. No this:

It is win-win for the lawyers and employment for court clerks. Remember the SCO vs IBM lawsuit for 6 billion dollars? Never mind the final outcome, the lawsuit itself cost millions of dollars. Apparently it isn’t fully ended and it’s been 12 years or so.

    • Gail Combs says:

What they hope to do is intimidate as many scientists as possible.

Dr. Tim Ball, at one point commented he wished he had never gotten into the fight. It has devastated his life, bankrupted him and made his wife miserable. There are very very few who are willing to be heroes.

  5. kmbold says:

Typical crats. Pluto-, auto-, techno-, Demo-…Godless would-be elites who can’t abide having their rules ignored or challenged. Such nerve. Such brass. Pathetic.

  6. g2-9ed9acc685824c6663c51c5b093476cc says:

Okay, let’s pose a hypothetical. Suppose it’s discovered that in fact it is the climate alarmists who are deceiving people for their own illegitimate ends.

What should be the response in that case?

Oh…you say that even if they ARE being disingenuous it’s for a good (read: POLITICALLY LEFT) cause?

Don’t laugh. I’ve had that exact response on several occasions from lower-tank Useful Idiots after putting some facts to them that cast doubt on the global warming hysteria.

“Well…even if it turns out to be not true what’s wrong with trying to save the planet?”

But those interested in saving the HUMANS on an otherwise non-threatened planet from the depredations of government run amok need to be in jail, dontchaknow…

    • Gail Combs says:

If one day they do get caught out fudging the data to suite their global warming scaremongering, I hope they end up in prison along with other scam artists, such as Bernard Madoff. His punishment is 150 years imprisonment and forfeiture of $17.179 billion. Given the AGW scam is at least a couple of orders of magnitude larger, the perpetrators better receive correspondingly larger sentences. Then again we’d be happy with the same sort as Madoff’s. — Peter

I second the motion, All in favor say Aye…..

And yes that was the sentence 5 Years Ago Bernie Madoff Was Sentenced to 150 Years In Prison (I guess the elite really really don’t like to be on the receiving end of a financial scam.)

Maldives Wants U.S. to Help It Fight Terrorism
    September 29, 2015
    By Josh Rogin

The Maldives is calling on the United States to help it respond to an attack on its president, potentially opening the newest front in the war on terror.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Sunday narrowly escaped an explosion on his boat.

Maldivian Foreign Secretary Ali Naseer Mohamed told me Tuesday that officials are still piecing together what happened.

“That is actually the biggest threat that we face as a nation-state and as a society. That is our biggest fear,” he said.

I am sure Obama will be eager to help.

      OVERVIEW OF MALDIVES
The Islamic government continues to see itself as the protector of Islam, instituting a set of laws that basically prohibits a Maldivian to convert to religions other than Islam, on the penalty of facing harsh consequences including losing citizenship. To be Maldivian is equated with being a Muslim, leaving no room for any deviation. Officially, there are no Maldivian Christians, only expatriate Christians. The few Maldivian Christians have no room at all to meet and take all precautionary measures possible to avoid being discovered. Christians are deeply underground as they know about the consequences if they are discovered.

      QUICK FACTS

      Leader: President Abdulla Yameen
      Government: Republic

      Population: 358,000 (several Christians)
      Main Religion: Islam

      Persecution Level: Extreme
      Source of persecution: Islamic extremism

      http://www.opendoorsusa.org/christian-persecution/world-watch-list/maldives/

Abdulla Yameen is the half brother of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed was arrested Sunday amid suspicions that he would try to flee the island nation to avoid facing terrorism charges.

From World Socialist Web Site: Maldives president ousted in US-backed coup
By W. A. Sunil and Deepal Jayasekera
      10 February 2012

On Tuesday, Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed, head of the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), was forced out by the military after a three-week opposition protest and a police mutiny.

In a televised address on Tuesday, Nasheed said only: “I feel my staying on in power will only increase the problems, and it will hurt our citizens.”

The next day, however, he declared that he had been forced to resign in a coup: “There were guns all around me and they told me they wouldn’t hesitate to use them if I didn’t resign.”

A protest in the capital, Male, by hundreds of Nasheed’s supporters, during which he addressed the crowd, was suppressed by police with tear gas attacks and baton charges. Riots then erupted in Male, with supporters of Nasheed throwing petrol bombs at police and attacking a private television station that was critical of his government.

Nasheed was elected in 2008 with a sweeping majority, in the first multi-party elections in the country’s history….

I guess The Maldives didn’t qualify for Sandy money so they sucked off the next biggest teat.

  8. mtminer says:

I thoroughly agree with this letter to the president. All twenty signers should be prosecuted under the RICO statutes for conspiracy to defraud the American people for their own personal gain. That would be a good start. Offer immunity to any that will turn states evidence against those reaping the greatest amount of monies. (i.e. Gavin, Hayhoe, Mann, etal….)

  9. Gail Combs says:

Steve: “To prosecute a RICO case there would have to be evidence of money, organizational ties and knowledge of wrongdoing. None of those three things have any relevance to the skeptic community”

Steve you can sue anyone for anything (BTDT) and with corrupt Prosecutors and Judges you CAN drag skeptics into court on manufactured evidence OR keep corrupt leftist scientists like Gleick out of court.

As I keep on saying we no longer have ‘Rule of Law’ in this country we have law used as a whip to punish political opponents.

I learned the hard way that if you are a registered Republican in my county you have NO LEGAL RIGHTS only those who are leftists have legal rights. NONE of the thefts I reported were even given the courtesy of a police visit but when a Drug Dealer said I stole her goats the police were all over my farm looking for her disease ridden on-deaths-door goats. (When she left the rental property down the street she abandoned the goats and the landlord asked me to look at them and tell him how to care for them. Haemonchus contortus and lice had literally sucked those poor goats dry of hemoglobin.)

When another neighbor down the road, a forester, reported a M.J. plantation to the local police he could not leave his driveway with out getting pulled over by the cops and issued a warning or traffic ticket.

Rule of law? Don’t make me laugh.

  10. E-mail addresses for these people are available on their respective university web sites. The reply from one of them mystifies me. His comments and work seem to contradict the RICO letter especially the settled science part. Is it possible that some or several of these names were attached w/o permission, full disclosure or understanding? Or are we skeptics being spoofed?
