A new study confirms my assertion that NOAA’s Climate Extremes Index (CEI) is fraudulent.
Since Americans first heard the term global warming in the 1970s, the weather has actually improved for most people living in the U.S. ….
For almost everyone in the U.S …. summers have remained relatively stable.
NOAA’s CEI shows summers getting much hotter since the 1970’s, which is not true. They are simply making data up – and lying to the public and policymakers.
This fraud is standard practice at government agencies producing climate propaganda.
I live in Phoenix, Az and summers have been well within the norm since I moved here in 1995. There simple has not been any kind of trend – and I find the summers here fascinating and look forward to them; but extreme…no. Summers here can have violent rainstorms in the monsoon season; or not. Heat can come early, (May June) or late August until late October. There is a great deal of variability; but no trend. Summer is the most interesting time of year here in Phoenix. I camp out as much as time permits as well during summer.
Here in Wisconsin since the ’90s we’ve enjoyed mild winters and mild summers. Heat waves and cold snaps just don’t seem to happen anymore. With the current El Niño I’m hoping for a decent summer and a good tomato crop.

That reminds me. What ever happened to Rep. Lamar Smiths subpoena demanding NOAAs internal communications? Last story I saw about it dates back to last year. In light of what is currently going on with demands by State AGs for the records from CEI and Exxon it would seem that NOAA story about NOAA refusing to comply should come front and center.
When I saw the graph I wondered how a superimposed graph of energy consumption (or energy prices) or maybe paving acreage would look. After all, measurements are taken near industrial exhausts and tarmac, and the increase in those could look like temperature increases. It is also easy to see on the Population Clock that world population growth still resembles a vertical line, and people use energy and degrade it to heat.
They completely erase the extreme heat of the Dust Bowl. There is no comparison between recent hot spells and the heat folk back then had to endure. They were tough. They had no air conditioners.
If Dust Bowl heat really did return, (as I thought it would, back around 1990), our power grids would be stressed to the max. Likely there would be brown-outs over a large part of the country.
These fools at NASA think people can’t open history books.
Oh, they figure they can revise history. That is what the left consistently tries to do. Witness their attempts to eliminate “the pause” the LIA and MWP. No history, be it human or natural or just plain scientific data from the past, is safe from the academic left if it can be used to dispute their current agendas.
I should have added even history written in stone is not safe from them as the destruction or removal of statues and monuments to Confederate heros or people of note from the Civil war that is going on now demonstrates.
Here in the DC area, we had three wicked summers from 2010 through 2012. We set records for hottest June on record, hottest July on record, hottest summer on record. Also broke record for hottest June day on record (104). But the official hottest day on record (106) from 1930 still stands and unofficial record (108) from the Naval Observatory way back in September 1881 was never approached.
A lot of these records were supported by extremely high minimum temperatures. That would lead one to believe that UHI and thermometer siting might have been an important factor.
Interesting point. Likely there are a few rural sites that one could check, and see if the recent summers hold up as “hottest evah”.
The east coast was at the very edge of the Dust Bowl heat. In places out west they were not talking about days over 100. They were talking about days over 110. And I’m not talking about the desert. I’m talking about Nebraska.
I once new a Kansas farmer who grew up in that heat, in a family so tough they withstood it and kept their farm, and the stories he told about what he called “the dirt storms” were amazing.
The thing that puzzles me is, exactly what do they want from all this gloom and doom mongering? Do they want us to shut down all fossil fuel generated electricity? That would kill about a billion people in a year or so. Prohibit fossil fuel powered transportation? Good luck shutting off the gas pumps–I think there might be some “minor” protests. Is it just about a need to tell people how to live their lives, because the warmistas are sooo superior to us deniers? What’s their end game?
Greg, that’s easy. The end game is “deindustrialize”, back to hunkering over a small camp fire in a cave. Somehow, I just can’t believe that the advocates of this see themselves as giving up their nice fossil fueled vehicles, comfortable, air conditioned or heated homes, etc. And please, they should not advocate electric cars! It takes reliable, affordable fossil fuels to charge them! I laugh when I think about trying to charge an electric car using off the grid solar power. Of course, it wouldn’t matter that I couldn’t charge up at night, because I live too far from an urban center to make a round trip anyway. Back to the horse and wagon!

That can be answered with one word: CONTROL
They want control over every aspect of our lives including our health and wealth.
Many of the empires in the ancient past controlled populations by controlling the water supply. Shut the water off from the irrigation canals and the population starved. Today’s equivalent to water is energy. One reason for demonizing coal is because coal is common and coal can be easily stockpiled. Nuclear is also difficult to disrupt. When dependable energy relies on oil or gas, whoever controls the pipelines controls the power. Shut off the gas and the power goes out today. Shut off the gas and with no backup, even wind and solar become undependable.
Control the power, control the masses. Make the masses, literally, powerless to fight back.
