NCDC claims that several years have been colder in the region, apparently believing that the freezing point of water has changed.

If, and that is a mighty big if, the winter 2013-2014 was indeed the 5th coldest as those government data keepers claim. Where was the great lakes ice hiding in those other 4 colder winters? How could those other 4 winters have been colder without forming more ice?

Since the shipping on the great lakes has been quite active for centuries, there should be some kind of records about those colder winters and how long the ice persisted into the spring. The claims that those other winters were colder can be verified with other data to prove or disprove those claims.

I know which way I would bet.

Sure sucks to be a data adjusting government parasite right about now. It’s very difficult to adjust the great lakes ice out of existence.

It is pretty. I am sitting in my summer condo looking at the ice on Suttons Bay, Michigan. One of the neighbors said 1993 was the last time they had this much ice.

Had to rub my eyes and verify the website I was just on. The number one content page for AOL at the moment is about the record Great Lakes ice. It is actually a HuffPo Green article, but it features a comment by Steve toward the top. Lots of detail and photos; pretty well done.
