Experts said Arctic would be ice-free in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 – but the real date is 2015
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It’s nice to see Nafeez Ahmed is back in jolly old England after being stuck in the ice around Antarctica. Now he has plenty of time to hector everbody else sea ice.
about sea ice.
You have to make allowances for the target audience. That is the scope of their brain power.
What exactly is ‘the danger of an ice-free Arctic in the summer’?
Only perhaps that Professor Chris Turkey will organize a boat trip and get stuck in ‘unexpected ice’ or possibly Reggie and the Team will attempt to row/blowtorch their way across it?
The female arctic snorkelling relay is on. Can’t wait to see if they have a better survival rate than a Nepalese Sherpa in an avalanche.

Isee that the Gaurdian’s Nafeez Ahmed is hawking his movie which is similar to the movie “Attack Of The Killer Tomatos” which I referred to in a previous post.

The problem with Nafzeez nonsense and fear mongering is that educated/developed societies with lots of energy have all reached a state of population balance all on their own. Strife only occurs where there is lack of education and energy to advance the society towards a state of economic equilibrium as seen in developed country. Nafzee assumes population growth will never subside via natural processes and therefore and Orwellian mechanism must be established to intervene and a new climate spiritualism must be established.
There was a group of people in the last century who formed a society called the “Church of the SubGenius” and I believe global warming scare cultists like Nafzee are the reincarnation of that sub-genius church cult. Here’s a short history of the movement:
“The Church of the SubGenius was founded by Ivan Stang (born Douglas St Clair Smith) and Philo Drummond (born Steve Wilcox)[4] as the SubGenius Foundation.[5] Dr. X (born Monte Dhooge) was also present at the group’s inception.[6] The organization’s first recorded activity was the publication of a photocopied document, known as the Sub Genius Pamphlet #1, disseminated in Dallas, Texas in 1979. The document announced the impending end of the world and the possible deaths of its readers.[5] It criticized Christian conceptions of God and New Age perceptions of spirituality.[7]”
Nafzee’s movie is the equivalent to the sub-genius pamphlet IMO.
“Church of the SubGenius” – too funny … had to look into that one!
‘Recruitment video’ (probably NSFW BTW)

re: “The melting sea ice has caught the eye of the US Department of Homeland Security and … ”
So, are the big dicks (think ‘house detectives’; nothing else implied) are going to focus their microbrain-power on this issue? This should ‘end well’ …
.
In reality, they’re trying to spin a cover story on the killing of Cliven Bundy’s cattle.
I guess I just never realized that the vast majority of humanity was fed by crops grown on Summer sea ice in the Arctic. Who knew?
US Govt officials thought Earth was in danger of an ice age 40 years ago. They were wrong then, and they’re wrong now; I expect that says something about how much humans know about climate.
There’s no obvious date of publication of the Guardian article (perhaps my old eyes have missed it) but as it was edited in May 2013 perhaps it’s a year old. If so,we should see an ice-free Arctic quite soon. /sarc
Linear extrapolations make fools of experts. But then, I repeat myself.
