Never broke ribs, but did tear my intercostal muscles once weightlifting a few years ago, and that was agony, worse than breaking my tailbone. A woman told me that for her it was more painful than childbirth.

Speaking of other victims, two police officers were shot in Ferguson last night. One was shot in the face, with the bullet lodging in his skull, and the other was shot in the shoulder with the bullet exiting the middle of his back narrowly missing his spine.
Holder should be brought up on charges of inciting a riot and accessory to attempted murder. His libelous report and statements caused this.
This “author”, wants a riot every time a “black” has been shot. My humble opinion, he’s inciting.

The longest war America has ever fought is the Dirty War, and it is not over. It has lasted 30 years so far and claimed more than 25 million victims. It has cost almost as many lives as the Vietnam War. It determined the result of last year’s congressional election.
Yet the American news media do not want to talk about the Dirty War, which remains between the lines and unreported. In fact, to even suggest that the war exists is to be discredited. So let’s start suggesting, immediately.
No matter how crime figures are massaged by those who want to acknowledge or dispute the existence of a Dirty War, there is nothing ambiguous about what the official statistics portray: for the past 30 years a large segment of black America has waged a war of violent retribution against white America.
And the problem is getting worse, not better. In the past 20 years, violent crime has increased more than four times faster then the population. Young blacks (under 18) are more violent than previous generations and are 12 times more likely to be arrested for murder than young whites.
Nearly all the following figures, which speak for themselves, have not been reported in America:
According to the latest US Department of Justice survey of crime victims, more than 6.6 million violent crimes (murder, rape, assault and robbery) are committed in the US each year, of which about 20 per cent, or 1.3 million, are inter-racial crimes.
Most victims of race crime – about 90 per cent – are white, according to the survey “Highlights from 20 Years of Surveying Crime Victims,” published in 1993.
Almost 1 million white Americans were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by black Americans in 1992, compared with about 132,000 blacks who were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by whites, according to the same survey.
Blacks thus committed 7.5 times more violent inter-racial crimes than whites even though the black population is only one-seventh the size of the white population. When these figures are adjusted on a per capita basis, they reveal an extraordinary disparity: blacks are committing more than 50 times the number of violent crimes of whites.
According to the latest annual report on murder by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most inter-racial murders involve black assailants and white victims, with blacks murdering whites at 18 times the rate that whites murder blacks.
These breathtaking disparities began to emerge in the mid-1960s, when there was a sharp increase in black crime against whites, an upsurge which, not coincidentally, corresponds exactly with the beginning the modern civil rights movement.
Over time, the cumulative effect has been staggering. Justice Department and FBI statistics indicate that between 1964 and 1994 more than 25 million violent inter-racial crimes were committed, overwhelmingly involving black offenders and white victims, and more than 45,000 people were killed in inter-racial murders. By comparison 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam, and 34,000 were killed in the Korean war.
When non-violent crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft and personal theft) are included, the cumulative totals become prodigious. The Bureau of Justice Statistics says 27 million non-violent crimes were committed in the US in 1992, and the survey found that 31 per cent of the robberies involved black offenders and white victims (while only 2 per cent in the reverse).
When all the crime figures are calculated, it appears that black Americans have commited at least 170 million crimes against white Americans in the past 30 years. It is the great defining disaster of American life and American ideals since World War II.
All these are facts, yet by simply writing this story, by assembling the facts in this way, I would be deemed a racist by the American news media. It prefers to maintain a paternalistic * double-standard in its coverage of black America, a lower standard.

Once upon a time you could get crime statistics by race in great detail, but those have been mainly scrubbed from the internet since Obama took office. I used to get them straight from the FBI site. The stats I can’t get out of my head are these:
It is 18 times more likely for a black man to kill a white man than the reverse.
Blacks are 50 times more likely to commit a violent crime.
I am not a racist, but I do believe in math. Twice as likely would be bad. Five times more likely would be horrific. But 50 times more likely is more than an epidemic, it is an undeclared war.
Until we can discuss facts like rational adults, we are doomed.

Early reporting of such events is usually BS and this is no exception.
1) Who can fire 2 shots from a handgun from 120 yards and hit each target once? I’m sure the author Jim Salter can’t and I think it’s safe to assume he never fired a handgun.
2) Notice that the author quotes Chief Belmar, then some nebulous “authorities” about the 120 yards, then Chief Belmar again in the next sentence. Who knows from whom the “reporter” got that nonsense.
The only good thing about this piece of “journalism” is hoping the writer got the part about no long-term damage right.
I pray for the officers’ speedy recovery and I hope they catch the murderous scum soon.

Yeah, my first reaction to the ‘handgun at 125 yards’ was ‘BS’. They claim only two shots rang out. If I emptied my entire clip at a line of cops at 125 yards I would hit more than two. But in the face and shoulder with two shots at 125 yards? From a gangbanger?
If I were a cop in Ferguson, I would find another job.
There was a Youtube video that was taken down as soon as it got attention (they alleged copyright infringement), that showed the ‘peaceful protesters’ cheering when the two officers were shot. These anti-white, anti-cop a-holes need to be rounded up, and they know it.
Maybe you should get an x-ray? It’s what I’d advise my husband to do because he would just tough it out. Women live longer because they go to doctors.
And as for my mini-van, I drive less than 10k miles a year. It’s good for getting to a doctor. 😀
The standard treatment for cracked ribs to pay the doctor, who tells you to take it easy for a few weeks.

All taping does is remind you not to move wrong.
Taping can sometimes lead to pneumonia.

I had a frozen shoulder, and told the doctor, “It hurts when I try to move it this way.” He looked at me deadpan and said, “Well, don’t do that.” Then he cracked a smile and winked. 😉
When I tore my intercostal muscles, I thought I had broken some ribs, and realized a Dr would only provide a bill, so never bothered. And I don’t do painkillers.
I have torn up my knees horribly over the years (soccer injuries), and learned in my twenties that unless I was still unable to walk weeks after an incident and needed surgery, seeing a Dr was pointless. I once went over a year with a very bad knee injury before finally getting the surgery I needed, because I know how to rehab all on my own, and wanted to be sure surgery was actually necessary.
Same goes for sniffles, fever, and cuts that do not require many stitches.

Gator mentioned straining or a “tear” in an intercostal muscle. One can also strain the attachment of the costal cartilage. Both can cause pain that is indistinguishable in it’s intensity, character, and location, from an actual crack in the rib. And since sometimes soft tissue can take as long as bone to heal it really doesn’t make a bit of difference.
I had a bike accident a couple of years ago where I broke a bone in my hand and probably a couple of ribs. The orthopedist who put a cast on my hand wouldn’t even feel my chest to check on the ribs, let alone have them X-rayed. Nothing to do about them regardless, he said.
